    Stolen Radio!

has there been any news on this theft? I'm sort of wondering if that radio was even possible to own? harris packed a ton of stuff into those chassis, money wasn't much of a consideration.

Is there a good preservative or protectant to use on cables?

ok us6x4 with only a couple sips of coffee i embarked on what turned out to be a pre-coffee odysee where I found usa signal mirrors, (very nice) a pot stash relic from the 70's and some other interesting stuff but NOT that green wrinkled soft tube of silicone krap. I KNOW it's around here...

Self recovery with one person, one pickup, and one M939- how to do it?

I think I'd get the 5 ton running first and if it isn't too far (75 miles) find a buddy somewhere at the VFW or something to drive your pickup back and act as a chase car as well.

Is there a good preservative or protectant to use on cables?

all the commo shops had it. green tube, sticky clear sort of stuff, non-hardening, used for contacts and antenna joints etc. I wasn't being very specific but the author here probably wouldn't want that exact stuff as it makes a mess all the time. there may however be a ingredient such as...

    diesel in crankcase

it has the wide axles, the tread width outside of tire to other one is about ten feet. the bed was widened after this rancher bought it from idaho motor pool in fruitland idaho so he could stack big bales on it to feed during the winter which he did for about ten years but after two engines...

    diesel in crankcase

great idea wreckclues, I wouldn't of ever thought of that. In this case it'll have to be trailered so the tower will have the insurance, also, the deck was widened to ten feet so it'll have to be done on a slow cop day around here despite being able to drive 50 miles or more and never see a...

Is there a good preservative or protectant to use on cables?

I don't know what talc is but "talcum powder" ............ I always thought plain grease would do it but i have seen somewhere grease covered 'O' rings or rubber stuff cracked anyway but the talcum powder seemed good although i was only exposed to that method a couple short years? Silicone...

    diesel in crankcase

yes, I considered that and it truely is next in line for that engine, a simple look at the filter can well reveal where the issue lies. In this case Will I'd have to drain all my oil out, or a lot of it, AND re-install it since I don't own it. Remember too, It is 70 miles away from me in...

Fair Radio Sales in Lima OH - going out of business - FOREVER

many thanks for the pics, I've gotten their catalog off and on since about 1968? I'm really discouraged to see them stop and if only someone could walk in there and carry on. I saw a R-390 in there (i thought they were gone) ....... i will buy some ms116 antenna sections while they are...

    Stolen Radio!

that's rough! what's even worse is the low life who took it hasn't got a clue what to do with it, it may end up in a pawn shop, hope you check that? also could be offered to a survivalist group? i hope you get it back and you get a chance to deal with the dirt bag.

    diesel in crankcase

I have to say that is not the case as I believe the engine managed to rotate 3 times by my best judgement, so possibly two pistons never made it thru the compression stroke but 4 did so no, besides, it has sat for two years, maybe 3! I'd like to think any diesel in the cylinder dripped out in...

    diesel in crankcase

here is the obituary for my truck ...... at least for now......... but first, ericp351 it was great reading your stuff, I never made it to gibraltar, just the canary is. The truck is very difficult to rotate, i got the fuel pump refreshed & calibrated, put 4,000 amps to the starter and got...
