Could be that.
Or maybe you have a bend in it with a radius that is too small.
My recommendation would be to get it as straight as you can in the truck without taking it out, loosen all the hold downs, and see if it spins freely. If it does, it’s one of those two issues. If it does not, you may...
You are absolutely right. That was a typo on my part. I knew it was total amperage split between the two circuits, so divided the 10 instead of using the 10. Good catch!
I can’t say enough good things about this charger. The thing is awesome.
I am posting this to assist anyone that may be looking for a solution to batteries draining and chargers being a pain.
I installed an onboard battery charger/maintainer.
it is a NOCO GenPro 10x2. It is designed for boats but works great in this application. it has two separate 5 amp [*edit* 2...
REF,
You’re the man. You got my hamster back on the wheel. At some point long ago I must have COMPLETELY disassembled the 90° adapter and put it back together incorrectly- or maybe even my brother or my son did it since we were all fiddling with it at one point or another. For life of me I don’t...
I can assure you that this exact setup worked properly for the previous 7 years I’ve owned this truck. It worked until I took out the Speedo pinion gear to test something else a while back. It’s been out for longer than expected (several months), but nothing else has been changed. This is the...
-If I spin the speedo cable from the T-case side, it needs to spin counter clockwise to simulate moving forward.
-looking at the output from the speedo pinion on the t-case, it spins counter clockwise as you look at it.
These two are opposite. So this means the gear is spinning the wrong way...
I haven’t replaced any parts. Everything is the same. I agree that it makes absolutely zero sense.
With that said, I did partially disassemble and grease the 90° adapter. But there isn’t really anyway that could be put together incorrectly since it is also gear driven and has pockets for all the...
ok... I have found the issue... There is another marking (see pictures). I assume that, like me, you have the orange 35 tooth speedo drive gear. if that is the case, you will see another marking on the opposite side of the orifice. now, that being said, I put mine to that setting and everything...
Here are a couple pics from my endoscope. One is where mine was set before adjusting it. The second is where I finished. It matched what you set yours too. Mine also does not work and I KNOW my worm gear is good because it was working before I had taken the Speedo gear out and put it back in as...
It’s been a little over a week and here’s an update for anyone reading this in the future looking for answers to the same questions:
- for questions 1 & 2 above, I did not get an answer. I ended up just replacing the entire caliper rather than potentially repeatedly installing and removing the...
I found THIS SITE. It doesn’t give a measurement and it doesn’t specify NP218, but might be worth cross referencing to see if it’ll fit. I can imagine they used a ton of different sizes across their line of T-cases.
I honestly just threw an o-ring on my drain and fill plugs. No issues.
As for replacing the gear (if necessary) you really only need to take off the yoke and tail housing to replace the gear. It’s not too bad.
Here is a link to a guy who tore down an NP218 to give you an idea of what you’re...
Thank you all for the inputs.
I will be digging around later today to see if I can’t find anything loose that may be making the noise. I am also going to check the play in the front drive shaft for any indicators that the chain may be stretched.
As for the shifting into 4lo, I read that...
I am having some issues with my NP218 and am wondering if anyone can lend some experience and point me in the right direction.
Biggest issue is that it will not shift in to 4lo without having to shut off the truck. If I attempt to shift with the truck on (and trans in neutral) it makes a...
It looks as though I am just a few days behind you because I came here looking for the answer to the same problem. I appreciate your following up on this thread. Just know You were immensely helpful to at least one person that may or may not be a window licker. Haha.
I will do my part in adding...
I have several questions about the parking brake setup on my 998. I have tried searching the existing threads for answers but either missed them or they just aren’t out there. If the answer is already in a thread, I am sorry for taking everyone down a familiar rabbit hole and would be thankful...
