max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

No modern diesels that I know of use air to water intercoolers.. the pump can fail. Not a good idea... Intercoolers help make more power by lowering the intake air temp. The only time it works well is in drag racing when you can have the second heat exchanger in a bucket of ice and do it run...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

ooops put a big intercooler and watch max RPMs.. make sure the oil has 1200-1500 ppm ZDDP

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

watch those rpms.. the rod cap and bolts often affect max rpm..

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

If you can fine some rod bolts or studs that are upgrades and get the pan off.. could be a worth while upgrade!

Salvage yards close to SE Michigan

Hmmmm it seems they may not be the best place to go... I drive past there on my way to Wisconsin to visit family and such tho.. may give them a chance.

Thank you very much.. closest one I've heard of so far!

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

Stock holset and the borg warner turbos the dodge guys upgrade to are very efficient.... Spool fast lots of cool boost relative to other turbos.. it isn't going to be cool at higher boost levels.. If cranking up the pump you may want supplemental fuel supply to the pump.. with new efficient...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

Now the drive train may be another issue. I can't seem to find a good replacement transmission for one of these locally yet... I think they may not like the extra torque.... That is another discussion.. being an SAE 2 bellhousing with an SAE 3 adapter stock the heavier duty transmission out...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

:deadhorse: I think we can all agree that rpm can kill a multifuel engine or most diesels in general. The stock turbo is a choke point for power and egts... Doubling the average force on a piston through higher boost only increases the max force on the power stroke 20%. Has anyone looked...

Sounds like fuel system somewhere.. It may take someone who knows these engines 10 minutes of adjustment to get this thing running right or... Fluids and filters always a good idea in my book on a "new" used vehicle. Doubt it is a plugged filter or fuel/water separator, but I don't know these...

So it only dies warm while idling after you've come to a stop or shifting from park to drive?

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

We didn't take pictures.. it was basically a spider of small metal tubes with T's and distribution blocks... tested with air over hydraulic with a few different fluid viscosity and pressures to simulate the fluid warming up etc.. You don't want to ever starve anything else of oil.. careful...

Ah did I say that backwards? You need to run power constantly to the fuel shut off solenoid to stay running maybe.. :-) Get a good relay and a switch wired in.. have a manual fuel on / off switch..

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

Your post turbo EGT probe would worry me.. It could be higher before the turbo. Making your own head gasket involves using the stock one as a template. I've used thick copper gaskets and stainless steel to lower compression on a motor. I usually emboss the copper around coolant and oil...

My newbie introduction is probably not the best place to ask this.... But I have some advice for general diesel stuff since you asked here... I am not an expert on that exact engine. If you ask in the proper area someone with a lot of experience with GM diesel may know your exact problem. I...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

More hp the piston heats up (watch egts) in the bore, only so much ring gap, and rod will go through the block. rods breaking are not always weak rods... what are the specs for ring gap and piston to bore,, more hp it is a good idea to increase the ring gap at times. If rpm kills the motor so...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

crazy you posted as I was... 27 psi-nearly 500ci and you think you only have 210-225hp? Do you have a pyrometer.. improper fueling and to many rpms will put a hole in most diesels. Do you know the psi of boost the motor at the 140hp and the 180-210hp?

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

very true. I do my research... I post on forums and make sure too many people don't say I'm crazy! (I know am crazy tho) I just don't go crank up the fuel on a tired motor and run higher rpm govern'd all day... I don't turn up fuel on a diesel unless i have more cooler air coming in, its a...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

Do you know the safe limit of the rods at 2600 rpms. If they came stock rated at 180 in some versions I imagine a multifuel would be fine at 240-60 range maybe 300. The added torque is what is also very nice across the power band with a good turbo. I have a friend who dabbles with injectors...

    tap for pyro

Always ALWATS place EGT Pyrometer sensor before the turbo!!! After the turbo is plain crazy :cookoo:. Don't skimp too much on the sensor and gauge either. The EGT is arguably the most important thing to know on your diesel. Accurate oil pressure and coolant temp are good to. Notice a...
