It is time... Enter the age of the Cummins

The 6.2 is dying in my M1008 and I finally got my hands on a 12-valve 6BT Cummins. As soon as I find a NV4500 for a reasonable price, I am going to start on this project. I'll update this post as much as possible with pics and tips from the install. For a starting point, I got a 1998 P-pumped...

    6.2 Glow Plug Wiring

Does anyone know what the amperage draw is on the glow plug system? Had an electrical fire and I am rewiring the firewall. I want to replace the fusible link with a circuit breaker and was wondering what the fusible link was rated at amp-wise so I can get a comparably rated circuit breaker.

    Weird engine noise

    I have an 1985 M1008. 500hp 6.2L?!!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Diesel Power magazine's May 2010 issue has budget build sheets and resource listings for the 6.2L and 6.5L engines! If anything it has some great information on where to get parts. They claim to have a build checklist for a 500hp 6.2/6.5! Budgets from...

M1008 / M1009 CUCV Oil Cooler Line Failure

I just wanted to bring to light a problem for pre-1985 M1008/09 owners. GM issued a recall for these vehicles and the civvy counterparts because of faulty oil cooler lines. I just found this out today when I went down to my garage and noticed the pool of oil on the floor. Thankfully, the line...
