Right and wrong way to start a deuce

My truck does not allow the starter to crank unless the Accessory switch is in the on position also. However, there is a dogleg in the arm of the accessory switch that allows you to pull the engine stop handle all the way out and then turn the accessory switch to on. This also makes sure...

Right and wrong way to start a deuce

How about just answering the question? To simply START the truck without all the details of what to look for before you start rolling...here is the best I understand from the operators manual. 1. Pull stop handle out 2. Crank engine with stop handle out to detect hydro-lock (as I understand it...

    Horn stuck on....

Thanks for the link to the TM....I appreciate it. No, the solenoid is fine, I have bench tested it...and the circuit is testing to ground with all the switchgear removed. A ground fault in the ground wire for sure. Frankly about the best chafed wire you could have if you have to have one in a...

    Horn stuck on....

No worries...figured so much! My concern is that someone already did chase the wire....and clearly found nothing. Looking at the loom there are no bare spots anywhere that I could see. So I was kind of wondering where it goes from the horn in to the firewall, is there some kind of a fuseblock...

    Horn stuck on....

I assume you are talking about the horn button. I have disconnected the button completely and still have a direct ground, even with the wire pulled from the steering column.

    Horn stuck on....

So I got my replacement horn pack and installed it....just about crapped my pants when the horn engaged! I cant get it to turn off...I traced the wire out of the steering column and that looks fine. I noticed that the wiring harness has been cut and taped everywhere that horn wire leads. So I...

    M35A2 low oil pressure.....

Good news!!!! I got the mechanical gauge installed and at idle its at 75psi! YES! But...I still have a non functioning gauge on my dash. I bench tested the old oil pressure sender and it failed, of course the new one is just fine. But I still don't have any oil pressure readings. At the...

    M35A2 low oil pressure.....

So....out of curiosity, if my engine had too much clearance in the rod bearings...wouldnt I hear her knocking around a bit?

    M35A2 low oil pressure.....

thanks for the quick reply...should I just get an oil test kit and send it off then? We do it once in a while for the old H-D's when we think there are issues. I did pull an oil filter and the viscosity seemed about what it was when I put it in...of course this was all just by the old...

    M35A2 low oil pressure.....

So my oil pressure has always been on the low side, and I noticed it seemed to be getting lower. At idle it drops to pretty much zero..especially when hot. This never bothered me much, as I am a Harley guy and it is very, very normal for a H-D to show zero oil pressure at idle when warmed up...

50/50 mix of used motor oil & E85 in the Deuce?

So I heard you can run a 50/50 mix if E85 and used motor oil. Should a guy filter the oil first???? Do I have to worry about anything??? It will be exclusively Harley-Davidson motor oil, with a bit of tranny and primary fluids mixed in. Typically the oil is pretty clean when they take it...

Kicked out of my own driveway!

I can say this...make very sure to do your homework and get all your poop in a group before you do anything. If you think creatively enough you can weasel in and out of nearly any ordinance or law. Even though many ordinances and laws seem set in stone, just think out of the box on your usage...

Kicked out of my own driveway!

Thanks for the info....I did already check on that. They specifically threatened to do that to me. But in Minnesota the lien dispute immediately goes to the court system. The city knew it would be a lost cause as I indicated that if a lien was placed on my property my attorney would be...

Kicked out of my own driveway!

I fought a large public nuisance ticket from my grass being too long during a re-landscape and garage building project(the city was looking for money for their budget deficit). From my experience, find out if you are right or wrong, then talk to everyone involved at the city level and explain...

I am going to look at my first Deuce on Sunday......

Great info guys.... THANK YOU! I think I have my bases covered pretty well. The Deuces that this guy has all have current MN titles and such. I can register it as a 26,000LB truck for $209.25 per year, and my insurance should be about $100 for 6 months. Anything a guy should look for...
