    M1009 shut-off problems

It started when I would turn the key off and the truck would keep running for a few seconds until it died. The problem slowly got worse until I now have to squeeze the return line on the IP to kill the engine. I've pulled the pink wire on the IP with no effect. I've replaced the the fuel...

CUCV rim needed - NE OH

Thanks cyco, Sam Winers is hooking me up. Now the easy part is done...

CUCV rim needed - NE OH

The spare was bent when I got the truck from GL. I've already had words with the first mechanic, the gist of which was that since the work is under warranty he'll be getting a bill.

CUCV rim needed - NE OH

I know this should be posted in the classifieds, but suddenly I'm being told I can't post new listings until I hit 100 forum posts. I had my brakes serviced and the mechanic (not my regular guy) did not tighten my front driver's side lug nuts. Fortunately I am still alive, but the rim is...

Why do people bash the CUCV?

My favorite story about my M1009 was from an average trip to ACE Hardware. A truck pulled in behind me with a dad and his two kids, 5-7 years old. I caught him eyeing Sgt. Rumble and as we walked into the story he told me he thought it was a great truck. His youngest kid turned and said, "No...

What is the best modification you have done to your CUCV?

In order of importance: Block/oil pan heater (saved my morning commute a dozen times), 12.5K hydraulic winch (saved other people's morning commutes), 33" BFG AT tires and GEAR seat cover.

    Hand throttle kit

Does anyone know if the HMMWV throttle control lever (57K3531) will fit a CUCV? I'm looking to rig up a hand throttle and a ready-serve kit would be perfect.

    CUCV headlight aiming bolt fix

I'd recommend against using Loctite/stop nuts. I tried using stop nuts and almost stripped the Phillips head on the adjustment bolt. The tension against the spring works well enough to hold the nuts in place. The only problem will be the passenger side. You might have to pull the front...

    CUCV headlight aiming bolt fix

1/4-20 (standard pitch) may have to be forced. 1/4-28 (fine pitch) went on using just my fingers. You may need the wrench when you're tightening against the spring though.

    CUCV headlight aiming bolt fix

I just did this. On my M1009 the bolts are 1/4-28 instead of standard M6 (7.00 mm x 1.00).

    doghead starter relay modifcation

Wouldn't it be a better choice if it was proven to work reliably, regardless of its origin of manufacture?

    Mile marker winch

    I don't think there's a bolt-on option for CUCVs.

    Mile marker winch

I hooked mine up by following the http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/45839-quick-easy-winch-mount.html. I've attached a few pictures of my results. The first shows the original mount. The second was taken after I added two Tahoe tow hooks. I mounted the controller plug next to the radio plug...

    Glowplug resistor block

I bought my M1009 in February from a dealer that in turn had picked it up from the Ohio National Guard. I noticed that the glowplug resistor block has been cut out of the system. The truck has not been converted to 12V. I haven't blown any plugs after 6 months of daily driving, so I doubt I...

    M1009 as temporary daily driver

I drove mine daily for three months with a leaking transfer case and governor cover. It drank transmission fluid like a sailor put to shore but it survived.
