M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

I may do exactly that. Seems easier then sectioning the roof and would leave way more space for A/C and solar panels. Did you put a vent fan in yours? A/C? Whats brands? Inquiring Minds Want to Know!

M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

If only I had your aluminum fabrication skills! I do have a TIG welder but am terrible at aluminum. It came with a wire feed that I have not tried yet in the 2 years that I have had it....maybe I should try that. I only need about 2 -3" lift for me to fit in there and My wife is about 4 "...

IT looks like you have a A/C on the roof......do you like it? Brand? Voltage?

M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

How hard was it to remove???? I am thinking of cutting a section from the center of the roof and raising it so I can walk the length of the box without worrying about my head hitting something. I might be able to support the back on that steel and the front on the factory A/C support. Possible...

M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

I could not agree more but my wife gets 50% of the vote. I think I am looking for a 4L80 upgrade. I will eventually put the manual in my Suburban. I did pull the interior out of the M1010 this week and am trying to decide what to do with the wiring. I hope to put a solar system in it and...

    M1010 Convoy Truck

I finally got around to pulling the interior walls and started on the wiring. What a mess. I did find some rust at the rear on the steel that supports the upper gurneys. I will clean it up and rewire before I install new insulation .

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

Looking at the rear wheel wells makes me think if I added a few inches in height to them I could put a bigger tire in there. I wonder how big a tire would fit in the front with some trimming? The rear will be covered with cabinets and beds and would not be noticed. Maybe an easy way without...

Has anyone installed a cooling system upgrade?

And my computer didn't show his answer till after I suggested what was meant. I hate computers! Sorry!

Has anyone installed a cooling system upgrade?

The second "Without it" should have been "With it"....just saying.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Drove my M1010 to coffee shop and to work today.

M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

The starter issue is why I wanted to put a manual trans in mine but my wife said no to that, she wants to be able to drive the vehicle too and although she can drive a manual fine; the M1010 does not have "hill-hold" and she worries about city traffic on hills with a big box on the back. I am...

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

I just reviewed above and it was you who trimmed the front and fit a 35" tire. I'm running 33.5" on my suburban with just a slight alteration on the rear of the front fenders and have had no trouble. I may leave that for another day as I just put the 33" on my M1010. I probably should have...

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

I don't plan on lifting if I don't have to and crossover sounds like it requires a lift so that's probably out and my four wheeling is just access roads and some woods/fields with wet tracks. I just don't like to get stuck. Seems like somewhere I read on here that you can go to 35" tires on...

M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

Did you use a second bracket to make two into one or did you just add some steel to the cut adjuster? I am considering taking the charging system to 12 VDC vs the 24VDC. Most of the kitchen and A/C stuff uses 12 VDC. I could leave the second alternator in there as a spare and just carry the...

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

Chevymike, If I am reading this right, you have the 2.5" reverse shackle on the back of your rig or was that your old rig? How did you find the handling with it added? Also, did you put crossover steering on your M1010? How much did you have to lift the front to have it fit? How did you do...

    M1010 ambulance box build reference

I'd love to see some pictures of the roof. Do you walk on it? Solar panels? Plywood seems like it would be heavy....? I like the diamond plate idea......Maybe glue foam to the roof and then glue diamond plate to the foam.I'm planning a RV with mine and think I will pull the walls to verify...

M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

"It required a little bit of grinding on the cases to make them work with the adjusting bracket." Where did you grind on the Leece-Neville alternators? Pictures. I can't get my belts tight! What belts did you use?

TR-6060 transmission on a M1010? Anybody done it?

I stated 4L60 when I meant the 4L80. I don't have a clutch, pedals, flywheel, or bellhousing either which adds to the complexity of the situation.

TR-6060 transmission on a M1010? Anybody done it?

Looking into a gear swap looks like I would have to change out the carriers, gears and the lockers too. Currently I have: Front Axle: Dana 60 4.56:1 ratio. Comes with PowerTrax 2620-LR Lock Right locker. Rear Axle: 10.5 in Corporate 14 Bolt 4.56:1 ratio. Comes with a Detroit Locker. My...
