SC 1951 Reo M108 with Austin Western Crane

I bought this 1951 Reo back in 1987. It was an incredibly useful yard wrecker for many years but after buying a newer truck it has sat unused for about 20 years. It is the gas engine model, ran great at the time but now who knows. Was originally a USAF bomb loading truck and then was used by...

Todays junk yard find willys jeep

I have the same jeep, it's a CJ3A, you can tell because of the front bumper is different than the CJ2A.

My truck was stuck at the beach & I can't get it started.

I would not use any more ether, that stuff is like a bomb. Try spinning it over while someone sprays some WD40 into the intake, that worked for me a couple weeks ago when I ran one out of fuel.

    Stacked!

Those look like they are being saved, waste is when out the gsa hands them out to local governments (for free I assume) and they never bother completing the paperwork to get titles for them, let them sit around until the floors rot out and then sell them 10 years later at auction without titles...

    New wheel cylinder question

The brakes on these trucks are fine with the original drivetrain. Just be sure to adjust them as shown in the maintenance manual and don't skip using the feeler gauge.

    Problem shooting on my m37

You need a new fuel pump or rebuild the one you have. I had an M37 do this years ago, the old got so thin it almost ruined the engine before I realized it.

If someone told me that the next person I would be calling would be their superiors and the Mayor. That's just wrong.

Docter do you know or remember a guy from your area who had a nicely restored Navy Gray M38A1 years ago?

    BOLO missing truck

Check with GA DMV and see if he is still the registered owner. They can also tell you if the vehicle was registered in a different state.

    What year M38A1?

There were 29,769 M38A1's produced during 1952 the first year of production. Don't know if the serial numbers started with 00001 or 10000 so your Jeep could be either a 1952 or 1953 model based on that number.

Who has the oldest VIN on his truck?

I've got an old M108 with the Austin Western Crane. The data plates show 1951 Reo serial #130429 with a delivery date of 4-22-54.

Condition Code HX on a Mule

I noticed an M1010 ambulance listed on GL under passenger cars and no mention of needing to get an EUC. Same chassis as all the others right?

I bought a Burma Jeep, Ford GTB

Personally I would be calling City Salvage in Charlotte and see if those two Chevys (that were sold at the auction) with the bomb hoists on them are still living and haven't been crushed yet. Where else would you find one of those hoists for your truck that close to home?

I bought a Burma Jeep, Ford GTB

I think you should give it another coat of Carolina Blue. I remember seeing that truck driving around the UNC campus by the landscape dept. it was always carrying flats of flowers and such. It was a good runner and was sold on state surplus about 1984. I bet that you can get it going again...
