    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Update from the road: I've got the whopping case of deuce butt already. As well as a couple cracked injection lines and perhaps a fried voltage regulator. Oh you beautiful Missouri backwoods. I love Mark Twain national forest. The alternator wasn't working, I disconnected the batteries while...

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

On the road update: Brakes quit working - based on everything else that had happened I figured it would be something like a Master Cylinder rebuild. Nope. Just a bleed, fluid add, and all systems were go. A hand from a Waxahatchie, TX local named Glen (BlueDeuce on here) and everything was...

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Actual Red Oak, stained, urethane-d, and installed. That said, its the 1/2" thick sheets in a "floating floor" configuration so I can swap out if one gets too damaged. Running water - yes. Composting toilet - perhaps. RV Toilet with traditional blackwater tank - no.

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Thanks for all the kudos everyone! Can't wait to see her at Aaron's get-together in July. :D Thank you. Keeping busy with her. She makes for lovely traveling. For the moment, water is hauled in two 5 gallon jugs that perfectly stack and fit under the table in the kitchen area. I already...

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Sounds like there's interest. I'll put up a travelogue in "Military Vehicle Road Trips" a little later. Jack's was wonderful. He had every pedigree of military truck and even several helicopters. He and his son Josh are phenomenal people and knew every possible thing there is to know about...

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Completed Internals This is WANDA, Mark 1. Kitchen area, plenty of storage, exhaust fan. Storage lockers. Queen size bed with plenty of storage underneath (plenty of room for parts!). Hardwood floors, red oak. And everything is attached to the rails and sitting on the floor with homemade...

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Box Internals Two things that I never want to touch again. Spray foam and fiberglass insulation. But that 2" rigid foam sure is fantastic.

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Hondas, in front and behind. Two Hondas come with me around the country. One in front, and one behind. Up front is a yellow 1969 Honda Trail 90. Behind is a Honda Element. Courtesy of the custom motorcycle hauler and the custom tow bar. I get nearly as many comments about the Honda 90 as I...

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Externals Lots of rust damage was all over the Michigan box. Including one seam that was completely rusted out. Took a long time to clean it all up and put it back together. The roof coating and RV vent help so much in the heat. Once another thousand miles is put on the truck that roof will...

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

Friends and a beauty Suffice to say, this couldn't have happened without a cast of many. My schedule was wrecked by the unbelievable amount of rust and the time it takes to rewire the rear box. I thought it would take a week to fix the rust issues and do the rewiring work with my brother...

    Presenting WANDA! (M109 Camper Build)

I wanted to wait till she was "done" to make this thread, but after spending four months building her and another 3.5 months traveling around CONUS in her, Wanda is still a beautiful work in progress. Ah MVs, always something to do. So, I wanted a no nonsense, go anywhere, do anything camper...

Best place to look for 5-ton parts near Phoenix?

Jack's does sell parts. Great guys, really helpful. It's the only yard I know of in Southern Arizona. It's in East Tucson. As far as reasonable prices.... :banghead:

We'll be there again! With the truck all decked out, RV style this year. And possibly our pooch.

    Condon Skelly

I was shopping for insurance. It sounds like they aren't halting coverage for anybody, just not accepting any newcomers.

    Condon Skelly

FYI - Condon Skelly no longer insures military vehicles (09/12/11). "After further review with my manager, we are no longer writing the larger military vehicles through our collector car program. I am sorry for any inconvenience."

    PNW-2011-Third Annual Chehalis River Valley M/V Convoy&Campout

Yeeeeah! Trip to Brad's. And Josh, +1 for the Portland convoy.

    PNW-2011-Third Annual Chehalis River Valley M/V Convoy&Campout

I'm down for the mini rally. Heck, I've planned a pub crawl in 3 weeks. Me and 12 friends in the back of my 109 - we could convoy a couple other MVs then rally the next morning. :-)

    Deuce radiator repair!?!

After a pinhole leak in the radiator, but not wanting to go pouring loads of contaminants into the radiator, I used a little bondo to create a patch. No problem in over 300 miles. Cost, $5 and 5 minutes.

Planes, Buses, and In-n-Out: The 1000 Mile Recovery

Hundy was definitely fantastic and very patient in walking through a wonderful truck with a newcomer to MVs. Not to mention, he took me by NAPA, In-N-Out, and a few different joints to pickup what I needed for the roadtrip home. I'll have to check out the Firehouse the next time I pass...
