Sounds like an awesome plan you have going! I'm glad everything worked out for you. I know it's so nice to have overdrive for these trucks. Just what they need!
Let us all know how the 4L80E goes as well as the 6.5. I know a lot of people on here would find that very beneficial.
I know it's probably against the rules to promote my classified ad in the normal forum, but I am starting a business soon and I need to sell my M1008 as soon as possible.
The price has been reduced to $5200!
Also is there anyway to edit the actual title of the classified ad? It still says...
Haha I am only kidding, but yes! I have thought about that. Maybe you could bolt an additional skid plate from the transfer case skid plate to cover the GV unit?
I have not fabricated a cross member. I was surprised to how sturdy it was just being bolted up. as long as you keep the bolts torqued a 25ft/lb, I think it is, you should be fine. I've check for movement and it is still holding strong. No drips or anything.
But like soule64 said, it wouldn't...
Alright time to update! The new adapter and coupler came and were installed! This time I knew what to expect and everything went smoothly. I tested the overdrive last week and it worked beautifully. I made a trip to Alabama and back with no problems, and was cruising in the far left lane the...
I called gear vendors and no fluid is actually placed in the tail housing. The bearings and coupler are splash lubricated from the transfer case just as the original tail housing is. I topped off the transmission, but I did not top off the transfer case. GV informed that the transfer case should...
No problem! I'm going to get the pictures and a video up ASAP. Hopefully by the middle of next week the truck will be finished along with the videos and pictures.
Over the past couple of weeks I gathered all the parts that I needed for the Gear Vendor install. After a couple of hours of labor, removing the floor board to get the GV adapter to fit, shortening the driveshaft, wiring the toggle switches, and finally topping off the GV unit with Amsoil gear...
truck1, I appreciate the response. That's good to hear that there won't be any issues with the lift lol. I wish I could afford the computer and the switch. I will probably just bypass the computer until I get the money to by a new computer. I just have to remember to disengage the overdrive...
Good thing it's only one quart right? haha. I wasn't planning on putting the lift in until next winter, so by then I'll probably just get a drive shaft made for me.
I see what you guys are saying. I will most likely fabricate a simple support bar as well. I might even do a skid plate while I'm at it lol.
I want to install a 4" lift as well, later down the road. Do you guys think there will be any issue with the drive shaft angle since it is being...
I appreciate that! I have read that if the GV unit computer receives a power voltage of less than 11 volts that the computer will scramble. A similar thing will happen if it receives more than 14.1 volts as well.
Did you use the longer, slip yoke adapter?
It looks like the adapter of the slip yoke is longer, and the fixed yoke is shorter. I apparently ordered the slip yoke adapter for the NP208. Is this the correct adapter?
Will I have any problems using the Chevy NP208 adapter? It is a little long, but it is the same one that Gear Vendors has pictured with their NP208 kit. I did pick up my GV for $700 which I thought was a nice price. I'm just going to go ahead and bypass the computer, so I can't be forgetful.
I...
Well the spline coupler is $130. The adapter from the NP208 to GV unit, I understand, is pretty expensive. I bought one off of EBAY for $285, brand new with all the gaskets and shims. However, I think I read on a thread where the adapters from GV run about $500.
They show up occasionally on...
acesneights1 I will definitely post many pictures. I'll try include as much details and diagrams as possible!
I shot some emails back and forth with GV and it looks like I'm going to bypassing the computer all together with a toggle switch setup, at least for now. I apparently have the old...
