2011 Edmond, OK 4th of July Parade

I won't be able to make it to this one. The Deuce still has some front diff issues and I haven't had the time to look at it. Sorry about backing out at the last minute. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos!! James

Anyone from Georgia want to chime in? I might be moving there in a year, or so... James
  3. MacGowan

    2011 D-Day adventure park June 24 25 26 Rally

Where is it? I'll be there if I can get my front diff fixed before then.
  4. MacGowan

    2nd okie mud run

Definitely not the t-case or u joints - the entire flange move up and down where it goes into the diff and there's no play what-so-ever in the u joints. I took a video that I'll post when I can figure out how...

    switch to soft top

Just fyi: My top is NOT NOS, rather it's brand new. I wish I could've found an actual canvas top.

    2nd okie mud run

Crud! So far it looks as though I'll need bearings and a seal... but, I suppose I'll need to take a look inside and drain the case, maybe flush it somehow, and see if the sucker still works! aua Anyone have any advice or experience with these front axles? James
  7. MacGowan

    2nd okie mud run

I just learned my front drive shaft is a bit loose... moves up and down and side to side about 1/2 inch!! So, I'll be reading some TMs to attempt to figure out what parts I might need to fix the sucker... not mud or water until it's fixed...:-(

Warthog: I gotta ask... what's up with your avatar?? Seems everyone here is changing their avatar to the same one. Too funny!! :cookoo:

2011 Edmond, OK 4th of July Parade

Green, red and yellow trucks? I guess we could represent the nation of Zimbabwe on the 4th! ;-) As far as I'm concerned: The more the merrier! Who doesn't know the H1 originated as a military vehicle, anyway? It's not like he's trying to admit an H3 :p James

Looking over the website listed in your signature - - AWESOME PROJECT!!! I'd give my left one to be over there to lend a hand!! James

    switch to soft top

The bows are made of, what seems to be, cold rolled steel. They are bent to support the top... hmmmm... I should just take some photos of the bows in the morning. Should be pretty easy to fabricate if you have all the measurements and some very basic metal working equipment. How did you manage...

My first MV and a thanks to the member that sold her to me.

If I didn't have a 14 year old nephew there'd be nothing funny about that statement, as I'd have no clue what that sentence means in slang... but, seeing as how I do have a 14 year old nephew and my 40 year old body contains a 14 year old brain -> rofl Congratulations on your new lady!! I got...

bodded deuce dual wheels or single

In my inexperienced youth I thought the fatter and taller the tire the better it would perform off-road, no matter the circumstance. Since then I've been stuck plenty of times - in 4x2's and 4x4's, and I've learned a lot through trial and error... and too much money to even think about. Much...

How many problems am I gonna have?

Congratulations - photos will be expected, of course!! James

2011 Edmond, OK 4th of July Parade

Obviously she's not aware of the fact that your Deuce needs to be around other Deuces... for it's emotional well-being [thumbzup]

    2nd okie mud run

Painting them BEFORE a mud run might be the act of an intellectually-challenged individual, but I'm cool with that! Heck, my daily driver is a Deuce!! :cookoo:
  18. MacGowan

    2nd okie mud run

Sounds like too much fun! I'll be there - it'll be my first "off-road" experience in the Deuce. It'll be a busy weekend - mud slinging on the 2nd, washing on the 3rd, and the parade on the 4th!
  19. MacGowan

2011 Edmond, OK 4th of July Parade

I'm in! ...barring severe mechanical issues that MIGHT arise, of course. I'll probably have my nephew and a few of his friends riding in the bed, again - they had a terrific time at the Del City parade and have been asking about the 4th of July parade ever since. Hopefully my rim colors will...
  20. MacGowan

    switch to soft top

Just to let you know: if you order the soft top new from a surplus dealer you'll get it with white talcum powder and glue visible on the seams on top. Not a big deal, but it'll look pretty ugly for a while... until the talcum comes off with the rain. I plan to re-seal when the glue eventually...
