I have an M923A2 truck that I am working on. (it sat around for a few years)
Right now, I have it on blocks so that wheels can spin freely.
It has the following problem (among some unrelated issues):
1) I can put it in gear, and accelerate. (remember, it is on blocks so the truck does not...
I have an M923A2 truck. It used to drive fine. At some point, it developed a problem: if I put it in gear from neutral, the engine would die.
It is as if it goes to being rigidly locked in gear without properly utilizing the torque converter.
If I lift the truck and put it on blocks so the...
I posted another thread previously "M923a2 dies when put in gear".
Well, since then I changed both fuel filters and it does NOT die when I put it in gear, especially if I push the gas pedal a bit. It does drive.
However, the truck dies every time when I stop it with brakes. It is as if...
I have a M923A2 truck. For the last few months, it sat, I would only start it occasionally to pump up the tires, did not move it when I did so. I started it at least once a month.
Now, I tried to drive it, and the engine would die if I put the transmission in gear. This happens instantly when I...
I have been thinking. An M923A2 is a cool truck, but not very useful commercially. And then I realized that it could be great for snow plowing. It is a heavy duty truck, starts easily in the cold, has six wheel drive, CTIS, etc. All an M923A2 would need for plowing is a hydraulic unit, nd M925A2...
I would like to start this thread to discuss cold weather starting of NHC250 and CTA8.3.
I have trucks with both. Tried starting them at 25F.
The batteries were fine.
I had to use ether assist. The NHC250 started with difficulty, after maybe a minute of cranking, whereas the CTA8.3 started...
My M923A2 that I just brought in yesterday has a radio (see picture). Just what exactly is it, and do you think that I should sell it separately from the truck?
*** THIS POST APPLIES TO ...-A2 VEHICLES ONLY! ***
I have a M931A2 tractor, and I noticed that its ether starting system is more complicated than on my M927.
First, there are two small lines going to the ether bottle. One goes to the main opening and another to a little opening on the side...
I have an M931A2 semi tractor. It starts and drives (used to).
However, today, it started fine but would not build pressure. There was air in the tanks. Maybe 80 PSI. The pressure was below 90 PSI but it would not start pumping. I purposely bled all air out down to 10 PSI, and it still would...
Look at this truck (completed auction)
http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=6800705
In the video, at 1:04, a rebuild tag appears saying: blount island, usmc/honeywell
Does this mean that it is a Marine Corps truck?
I have a new problem. I have a M931A2 semi tractor. It has always been easy to start.
I showed up at work (where it is) today. It would not start. Cranks and does not produce much white smoke. (I have a M927 that makes a lot of white smoke when it cannot start without ether).
I know the...
I am just wondering. What do you gentlemen and ladies think, is a fair value of a tarp and bow set for a M923 truck. Condition is very good. Not overpriced, but "easy to get that price when selling" price. Thanks.
I have a M931A2 semi tractor.
It used to have a functional CTIS, it would deflate the wheels and inflate them. I tested it a couple of months ago.
Now (1 month later) it is not working. The symptom is as follows:
1) I start the truck
2) A few seconds later, farts are heard as the CTIS...
I make a living by buying surplus stuff at auctions. As such, I have access to brand new -- never used -- oil, such as new hydraulic oil, motor oil, way oil, etc. Usually that stuff sits in barrels and unopened buckets and no one wants it.
While, ordinarily, it costs a lot more than diesel...
My M927 had a problem of rough idle, that is, its engine speed at idle was varying between 400 and 700 RPM, which sounded really bad, scary and improper.
Searching through this forum suggested that the problem was caused by poorly tightened fuel lines, which allowed air into the system.
I...
I read the DOT regulations on what lights are required for commercial vehicles.
It seems that both my M927 and M931A2 will need a top-cab-mounted three-piece amber identification light.
Additionally, my M927 is over 30 feet long, and will require amber side lights.
I have two questions...
I often do scrap metal projects.
All last week, we had to work pretty hard, at an old stone factory, removing 12+ ton cast iron stone planers. That place had so much stone dust that floor was completely impassable for my regular forklifts. We were lucky that they had adequate bridge cranes. And...
I am going to go and register my M931A2 semi tractor tomorrow and I will use it for commercial use, such as hauling scrap metal and equipment to nearby scrap yards.
My question is what plate to get, as registrations and HVUT get expensive with higher plates.
Specifically, does it make sense...
The two 5 ton trucks that I plan on keeping for my commercial use, will need to pass a DOT inspection.
One is a M927 and another is a M931A23 semi tractor.
I would like to know what are the known pitfalls or areas to improve, in order to pass a DOT inspection.
The truck inspection shop I...
