I have sold quite a few MEP generators over the years. I always tell buyers to always consider fuel consumption as one of their main considerations. If you have a long power outage lasting a week or more fuel will will be a huge issue. If the outage is widespread throughout the area fuel will...

I have had several 1040s and 1030s and currently use a 1040 for home back-up. So far I have had no issues. I have a spare control panel in case any electronic issues in the future. GP just sold quite a few control panels last week. I suggest you buy one up when they pop up again for peace of...
Looks like it is time to put my MEP-1040 on the old auction block. The final 1040 (128 hours) sold for $8160
Auction prices on everything have been nuts! Sellers on eBay can't bring in the prices from recent gov auctions.
I have a 1040 and love it. It is quieter than the 803, and uses less fuel at .69 gph. Of course for the past few years since going from a MEP-802a to a 1040 my power never goes out to put it to good use.
I didn't. I just cleaned up and sprayed it with compressed air to get the dust/dirt out. I got it all put back together and fired it up, works like a champ now. This was a much easier job than I was expecting.
So far no problems getting the rotor and stator on the 803 today. I used some 2x4s to hold up the rotor while I could align it and get the bolts in, it worked really good for only have one set of hands. Got is all put together but it was -5 degrees outside so I decided to wait until tomorrow...
I am not sure about the engine. Quite a few parts were removed to include; radiator, 3 injectors, fuel lines, rocker covers and the front main seal cover. It's all rusted up and I didn't even try to see if it was seized up or not.
I recently purchased a parts machine 803a with a bad engine so I could swap out the rotor and stator on a low hour 803a that I have. Today I decided to start the swap and so far everything went pretty smooth. Took off all of the housing and had good access. Taking off the stator and rotor...
