    Rebuild progress

The battery box was a tool box from Buyers brand. It mounted easily and I used regular 12v batteries that fit in there. I did buy some battery hold downs to secure them.

    Rebuild progress

I decided I wasn’t ever going to use the backhoe and front loader, but I’ve always wanted a unimog since I was a young private in the engineers. I made a dump bed and planning on putting a hydraulic winch on the front. I‘ll probably only use it to get coffee. I thought it would be nice to show...

    I need some axle advice

So I have been tracking down air leaks and when I flip the switch to engage the lockers there is an air leak at the breather tube on the driver front axle....my first thought was air is escaping thru the locker but when I took off the smaller tube that engages it, I found air pressure is coming...

    Leaking hydraulic cylinders

Unfortunately I don't have any hydraulic shops where I'm at and everything needs to be shipped in. It makes me self sufficient. I found the NSN number for it as well but thought someone may have a SEE-hack noting you can buy it from Case or whoever made the cylinder. As for now I emailed a...

    Leaking hydraulic cylinders

Does anyone know how to find replacement seals for the hydraulic rams. I found P/N 9C03058 in the 24P-2 manual but I don't know where to get it. These look like case rams but the part number doesn't look like any matches looking online. Ideas?? (These are the front loader arms I'm rebuilding)...

    FLU419 transmission question

Adavis, It probably wasn't the 3000 miles but the 30 years its been sitting in the tranny. Coincidently after doing the post I had to replace the bushing in the forward/reverse shifter. Luckily I had an extra one waiting for a rainy day. I don't know if it is common that both bushings would...

    FLU419 transmission question

Adavis Glad you took it out. A lot of car companies had similar designs. I would recommend using some assembly grease when replacing the shifter. I had ordered the part from Couch Off road but Expedition Imports would probably be able to get it as well. BTW the part is 310 268 00 35. PS...

    FLU419 transmission question

One of the things you should also check before tipping the cab and diving into that project is the shifter bushing. It is the bushing that the shifter rides in and they do deteriorate with time causing the shifter to sit to low in the collar and then the shifter doesn't engage the shifter forks...

Finally got the air conditioner mounted

That looks awesome and now I need to do that. Can you give me a little more info on what I need to get. I guess I don't understand what a Redot kit is. Thanks in advance.

What things do I look for when buying a FLU419

Thanks for the responses. I bought one. Right now I'm just in the process of shipping it and then all I need to do is give Scott at EI a credit card and parts lists. I'm predicting a 2 year project to make it look loved again.

What things do I look for when buying a FLU419

I have wanted one of these 419 for a long time and have seen a few of them. I even bid on one but didn't get it at a government auction. I found one used not to far away and am going to look at it but was wondering if there is certain things anyone could recommend looking for that would cause...
