Finally got the alts tested and I'm about to rebuild. I first rebuilt them in 2013, but it seems they're shot. Both stock alts are identical (have the isolated ground post), other than the capacitor on the passenger side being on the outside. My questions are:
1) why on the outside of only...
Hey guys,
Searched a few threads regarding axle seals/leaks but couldn't find any photos that helped me diagnose this...
For a while now the right front tire rim has been collecting grease/soot. I've heard it could be soot from brake dust but the calipers were changed a couple years ago and...

Starter was around $80 from O'Reilly's. The flexplate can only be put on one way right? The raised rectangular patch (whatever its called) on the plate should be facing the rear right?
Hey guys,
Had my 27mt direct drive starter rebuilt because I must have improperly installed a new 28mt gear reduction and it chewed up the flexplate while the tranny mechanics were doing some adjustments. Now, for the life of them, they can't seem to install the 27mt with a new flexplate...
So this nasty grinding thing JUST happened to me when I tried to start it. Only thing I had done since I last parked was an LMC headlight wiring kit. I looked under the truck and found that a cracked starter bolt had fallen out (i'm assuming after this failed starting attempt). Recently...
My stereo loudly pops my speakers and my gen 2 light flashes when I brake. From what i've read both of these things can be related to a bad earth ground, but I've checked a few obvious spots already. I can't figure out which ground would be associated with applying the brake from looking at...

Putting my ear to the oil pan is where it's loudest, or maybe just beyond it, more towards the rear. It stops when I put it into gear sometimes, but usually I can hear it again at random times when I'm driving. I know it leaks oil, and possibly ATF. I haven't had...
So the one they gave me was this: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/BWD0/PT778.oap?year=1984&make=Chevrolet&model=K5%2BBlazer&vi=1050589&ck=Search_pt778_1050589_-1&keyword=pt778
I just compared it to the one I should've gotten...
Maybe I got mixed up here...
After reading the sticky about the temp sensor, O'Reilly showed a part that looked like this (but it's called a coolant temp sensor)...
The pigtail I just bought from O'Reilly's had two black wires. I'm guessing isn't doesn't matter where each connects to the yellow and black wires? Thanks
Marcus and Tim have given me some great fundamental troubleshooting advice recently in this thread. Take care of all their preliminary suggestions to help narrow it down. I'm getting there, slowly but surely. Did the bypass in the process too and found some bad electrical connections...
Alright...
Charged both batteries and took them in. Turns out they're both good. One rated at 800 CCA measured 898 CCA, 13.01 volts at 61 degrees. The other, rated at 850 CCA, measured 1136 CCA, 13.75 volts at 71 degrees.
Got 12.2 volts at my pink/black wire, and also heard the IP click...
The glow plugs all read around 1.2 ohms. That fried black wire was screwed into the firewall and connected to a bolt on the engine where another 4 or 6 gauge negative wire coming from the terminal board was also connected. I'm not sure where the engine ground wire is, but I was hoping that was...
Sorry, I didn't mean that I "grounded" the pink/black wire...I meant I had the positive of my meter on the pink/black and the black of my meter to a ground. Is there a way I could be frying these batteries so soon? Lately my gen 2 light comes on and off as I let of the gas, but tightening the...
