I saw some of those boxes on Ebay with the plugs I needed, but they tended to be expensive. I also saw some on government auctions, but they werent in driving distance. According to the part numbers, the one I got appears to be for a 600 gph water purification trailer. I guess those trailers...
I could see that. Scrappers would have a heyday with all that copper.
I was able to make a homemade right angle connector with the surface mount plug and a sealed outdoor 4x4x6 electrical box.
I snagged one on Ebay. It was $90 bucks, but it was the only one I've seen after a week of looking. And it's a panel mount type, so I'll have to find a small water tight junction to mount it on. It's odd how rare these are. It seems like tons of them would have made it into the surplus market.
I have another opening above the connector that has a sleeve with a draw string. I can use that if a connector doesnt show up. I already have a 120v plug and a 208v plug going through that one. I use it for running tools out in my yard.
Good Afternoon.
I have a MEP-005a that I have running and now I'm to the part of my project where I'm ready to tie it into my house. I have #4 copper outdoor cable that my father in law got from an industrial auction and I need to connect it to my generator. My first though is to burry conduit...
That would make a lot of sense. My core support is rusted through on the passenger side. At least I think that's what it is called.(The piece that goes across the front of the truck that holds the radiator, fenders, wheel well, and grill on.) I plan on replacing it with one from the truck my cab...
After looking at that I think I will hold out until I find a 72-80 model bed. Although I don't plan on selling it and the body lines are already a little off because the 78 cab didn't match up perfectly with the 77 doors and fenders. The vertical lines are not exactly parallel, but you have to...
Looking at them side by side I can see there is sort of a ridge on the newer ones near the top of the bed that matches up with the ridge on the cab. But it doesn't look like anything too very drastic. To the untrained eye it might pass. But in all honesty i'm not going for a show truck so it...
What beds are interchangeable with a 1977 M880? My bed had a rust problem in the cross members that support it and they have recently collapsed leaving the bed held up by the sheet metal of the bed floor. I was told at the local junk yard that the only beds that would fit it were off of 74-80...
I recently paid $1550 for for my 77 M880. The odometer says about 17,000 miles, but i have no way of knowing if it has rolled over or not. There is some rust on the bed and fenders and the cab floor is almost rusted to nothing. Everything else is in working order.
The sticker in the door jam is no good any more. The printing on it has vanished. There is however a plaque on the door that has all the manufacture information and the vin. and there is also a plaque on the dash board that has the information as well, along with some military info.
Thanks for all the tips. And i was planning on using rustolium ruberized undercoat for the frame and sheet metal on the bottom. Is that a good or bad idea? And all i have access to is a pressure washer, wire brush, and grinder.
The guy i bought if from didn't write up a bill of sale. He just signed over the title, but i believe the title has the vin on it. And would a tractor with a front bucket be able to lift the cab instead of a forklift?
I recently bought a 1977 M880 with extensive rust damage to the cab floor and cab supports. I went to a local salvage yard and they said they had a 77 dodge pickup they would sell the cab for around 300$. Can anyone tell me what I am getting myself into by changing out a cab? and any tips would...
