    Just a few reasons it's good to own a CUCV...

    Besides all the guys staring at a girl driving an Oh9 my daughter's favorite was the temporary parking lot (football practice field) at school this past winter because of construction. There was about 8" of snow on the ground so only 4WD vehicles were allowed on the soft field and they had some...

    tach

    Tiny Tach on my 6.2 I have a CUCV engine, Dana 60 and 14 bolt in my M715 with 5.13 gears and 42" Swampers. The 6.2 is mated to a NV4500 and I put a Tiny Tach diesel tach on my alternator (12 volt conversion so only one alternator). Either it is off or my gear/rpm calculations are because the...

    Daughter's M1009 will not start....any suggestions?

    Update - Fixed!!! Finally got this fixed! Turns out one of the connectors I used (NAPA, not cheap Chinese) was bad an nothing was getting to the starter. We put a new connector on and the new, geared down starter spins the motor like crazy. Still have a leak back issue when it sits and also...

    M1009 starting problem

    Have the same problem but I have a little wetness around the fuel pump so I think the fuel is leaking back allowing air in the line.

    Daughter's M1009 will not start....any suggestions?

    Daughter's Oh-9 has been getting air into the fuel line some how and will sometimes start, then cut-off, then has to be cranked a bit to get fuel back into the engine. Once running, no issues. Couple of weeks ago she started it to go to the horse barn and it cranked slow like a weak battery...

    Need some tire options for the M715

    Bob, Thanks for the offer but I have a set of new 11.00x16 XZL that I run on my Commando. As the post says, my M715 is geared and lift for bigger tires (11.00x16 is 38.5" tall). Now if you had 11.00R20 XZL's we would be talking!

    Need some tire options for the M715

    My M715 project will be coming home soon with all its modifications finally complete (6.2, NV4500, 205, SOA, GM Dana 60, 14 Bolt, power steering, hydroboost, and a lot more). The truck will see mainly farm, highway and light tow duty and pleased with the power the 6.2/NV4500 combo with 42" tires...

    Alternator Rebuilt and now Voltage Gauge in Red?

    All is well again! Turns out she poped the - drivers side alternater belt on the way home. Went ahead a replaced them all but it was still pegging the gauge. Checked with the rebuild shop and they had put a 24 volt relay in the alternater. They ut the right one in and everthing is back as it...

    Alternator Rebuilt and now Voltage Gauge in Red?

    Thanks for all the advise and here is a partial update. I had some Germans business associates stuck in the states due to the volcano in Iceland and could not get to the M1009 so I had my local mechanic do the alternator. You can kind of guess where this is going, but he swore up and down...

    Alternator Rebuilt and now Voltage Gauge in Red?

    Ok, finally chased down the alternator/Gen1 issue on my daughter's M1009, driver's side alternator was bad. Had it bench tested (the right way) to confirm, then rebuilt and it is back in the truck. Gen1 light goes off now as it should but the gauge is acting different. When it is idling the...

    Gen 1 driver side not charging right

    I have (I think) the same problem on my daughter's M1009 and have made her park it until I get this figured out (she is not happy about that!). Are these two alternators the same? If so, swapping them would tell me if one is bad because I don't really trust the local idiots to test one. The...

    CJ10a Flightline Tug --> 4wd Pickup Truck

    Stock wheelbase is like 88". Rear springs are a HD and flat version of the 57" J10/J20 springs. As such they are offset toward the front, 25" to pin in front and 32" to back (approx). Just reversing the springs will stretch the wheelbase about 6" and come very close to a CJ7 wheelbase. As...

    CJ10a Flightline Tug --> 4wd Pickup Truck

    Gavan, Don't know how I missed this but I am also in the early stages of a tug project. I picked up a mint, running CJ10A with 24,000 miles on it awhile back and have been trying to decide which way to go with it. I gave up on making it both a street and trail rig using the stock engine so it...

    M1009 meets Saab - Guess who won?

    Picture update Finally got some pictures taken of the damage to to Oh-9 from the Saab accident. Don't have any pictures of the Saab but it was totaled. On a different note here is a picture of my daughter "plowing" the yard after our recent 15" snow. It is all grass where we...

    M1009 meets Saab - Guess who won?

    Sorry, Warthog, I have part of it back together but not the trim pieces so I did not take and post pictures yet. I will get it finished next weel and post the pictures. The parts you sent are great, the hold up is/was the headlight adjuster screws. When we attempted to put everything back...

    What happened to my mileage?

    Been watching this thread with interest as my daughter's Oh-9 with 33" tires mileage has been bouncing around a bit, too. I have tried going back to 31" x 10.50 tires as suggested here but did not see much difference. In her case 55 of the daily 65 miles is Interstate driving at 65 mph. The...

    M1009 meets Saab - Guess who won?

    You Da Man, Warthog!:not worthy: Yes, it is the passenger side. Just need to OD trim piece that goes around the headlight and turn signal and the turn signal itself. Spent yesterday at the junk yard looking for parts, even found an 86 Blazer, but no luck on those parts (did find the side...

    M1009 meets Saab - Guess who won?

    The broken part I need is the OD plastic trim that goes around the lights (headlight and marker/turn), technically it may be considered part of the grill. I will look around for the conversion kits for the headlights, just did not know if anyone had a favorite.

    M1009 meets Saab - Guess who won?

    Well, the other night in the pouring rain and rush hour traffic my daughter has to stop on the way home to pick up horse feed. Coming off the Interstate onto one of Virginia's tight cloverleaf interchanges (deceleration and acceleration ramps are on in the same) to the highway below she suddenly...
