You are probably right about the "Control box is smoked or went for a swim", because I had her steering wheel deep in a creek last year. I bet that was the root of the problem...
I found the following control box and harness on ebay. Think I should start by replacing these? My harness looks...
Hi Guys,
I know it has been a while on this post, but I discovered something today that might be related...
I ended up installing a master kill switch in order to overcome any potential shorts in the harness, etc... This seemed to be working fine for my battery drain issue, so I thought I...
Wow!!! I found the EXACT same issue with my vent line! The entire line is filled with a white sludge of some type which has clogged it up... Going to the parts store now to get new line. Thanks!
10-4... I just need to also fix what ever is my fuel deliver issue. I've already replaced the mechanical pump, the injector pump, and replaced the stock fuel filter system with a hi-flow Racor, and although the problem is not quite as bad, without the electric pump it will still go dead on me...
Okay guys, so I've finally got back around to working on the HMMWV again. The first thing I have done is drop the fuel tank, which was actually more of a pain in the ars than I had expected it to be! Once I finally got the tank off the truck, and opened up the access plate on top, I was...
This issue has already killed 4 batteries at this point, so I cannot afford to spend $250 on another set of new batteries until I can identify and correct the issue causing the reversed polarity.
The unidentified wires are the positive and negative leading to the 24v-12v converter. The fuse to...
It is running on a brand new generator now, and it did this the first time prior to the replacement.
Below is a pic of my setup. The top battery is the rear, and the bottom is the front:
The first option in this article cannot be the case, so it must have something to do with number 2. Here is what he says about #2:
"The second possibility is reversing polarity after the activation process. This is also rare, as it requires a sequence of errors to be present after the...
Okay Guys, I know it has been a while on this post, but I purchased the following 24v-to-12V converter from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003P17X8I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I installed it in my HMMWV and both the LED lights and the following in-line fuel pump...
It would stall at high RPM's over a 30-60 second duration. I would have to sit at idle to allow the fuel supply to catch up before I could run again. Then eventually it would not crank due to lack of fuel. I have replaced both the mechanical pump and the injector pump, but still have the same...
It is acting as a "Lift Pump" to get a fuel feed up to the filter, and the mechanical pump takes it from there. Instead of buying a 24v I just went to the local auto parts store and purchased an off the shelf 12v diesel pump. My truck was stranded, so I was in a hurry...
I think you might be right! This didn't start happening until I added the 12V inline fuel pump. I think the LED's will run on 24V with no problem, but I will have to get an inverter for the fuel pump anyway. Thanks!
One thing I failed to mention earlier on this post is that the rear battery which keeps doing this is running some 12V accessories, like an inline fuel pump, and some interior LED lights. These items are controlled by toggle switches mounted on the dash. I noticed the last time I drove it that...
I know...I've already read this same text on another site. However, this has now happened 3 times on the same vehicle, same battery (rear) with 3 totally brand new batteries each time! It is happening WITHOUT any recharge occurrence. So...although this, "Just can't happen"... It HAS happened 3...
