    Electric fuel valve M818

According to the diagram, it’s a direct connection between the switch and valve. I did test for power on that wire and got nothing. I plan to work on it more this weekend. I bought both valves in case I need them.

    Electric fuel valve M818

I have to shut it down by stalling it. The manual shutdown cable is disconnected and the manual valve doesn’t have a lever on it any more. It’s missing and it has JB weld sealing it up. The electric one is still there and hooked up but it doesn’t do anything.

    Electric fuel valve M818

Thanks. I guess I was looking for the wrong TM number before. Found it that time.

    Electric fuel valve M818

Next thing on my to do list. My electric and manual fuel valves don’t work. The manual one is obvious why it doesn’t work. The electric one is a little different. I’m assuming I’m suppose to get 24 Volts to it when I turn the switch to run to open it to allow fuel to get to the injection pump...

    Fuel consumption and top speed

My only reason for the concern about the mileage was it was disappearing way faster than it should have been, according to what others were saying. You have to have some idea how far you can go on the amount of fuel you have available and things weren’t adding up. It would be just plain stupid...

    Fuel consumption and top speed

Got the fuel issue straightened out today. Now I’m drawing from and returning to the left tank. Took it for about a 15 mile drive and the fuel level only dropped less than an inch. Major improvement.

That’s what I was thinking. But now I just found part, if not all of the problem.

    Fuel consumption and top speed

Ok. Just did a test run with GPS. Speedometer is pretty accurate up until 35. Then it gets off quite a bit. 40 is more like 48. So it could be going faster than I think. Was starting to rain so I couldn’t do a longer run. As for the fuel issue, I think I’ve figured out what is going on. Seems...

    Fuel consumption and top speed

I’ll have to double check that. First time I drove it when it was in low range the speedo showed about 35mph and I think my sister, who was following me, said we were going about 35. So I think it’s been recalibrated. I’ll double check this evening.

    Fuel consumption and top speed

I’m not concerned about that. It’s all been disconnected.

    Fuel consumption and top speed

Something just doesn’t seem right about this Cummins. I know it’s not going to get ggreat mileage but this one seems overly excessive. This weekend I was transferring fuel from the right tank to the left tank, since the previous owner disconnected the right tank when he replaced fuel lines. I...

    Tow bar

Anyone have a tow bar for an 809 series 5 ton? Prefer something in or around Houston but could drive to Louisiana and east Texas for one.

Is there such a thing? I thought it would be in the TM. I need to find out why I don’t have power to my fuel cutoff.

    Steering box M809 series

Every steering box I’ve ever tried adjusting was a failure. You can adjust the free play out when it’s centered but then as you turn it off center in either direction it gets tighter and tighter. If you keep trying to turn it more you can break the case or a gear. The only real solution is to...
