Anywhere you find voltage in the fuse box is okay. Pretty much the supply side is the same no matter which circuit you pick, except I think there's some 24vdc in there.
Looks pretty good. Two things.
First, the radio is a long way from the operator. I used to run my CB, a really big Ranger 2950 (okay "modified" 10m ham radio), under the AM/FM pod. I used existing holes. It really didn't interfere with my feet at all.
You have created a new ground by...
I might have to rebuild an alternator soon. I read a tutorial online about how to do a Delco alternator. It didn't look like rocket science. What has stopped me is finding a source for parts and I'm not sure if the parts in the alternator are special. Most of the sites I've seen for parts...
Some notes on EMP.....
EMP mostly kills things that are "Solid State". This means, Integrated Circuits (IC's), and transistors.
It does not kill the old fashioned coil-and-contacts-moving-parts-relays.
It does not harm vacuum tubes.
It does not kill solenoids (unless there's some solid...
I used a big stupid adjustable wrench on the nut. I slid a pipe through the eye of pintle, wedged it into the ground and then went work, only after soaking the nut with liquid wrench. I swapped my swivel pintle out for a fixed one with a ball. I wanted to be able to tow a mil trailer, but my...
I had the Pace Edwards in my 86 Silverado K-5. I liked it quite a bit. I had a couple of radio control heads stuffed into it. It was also a good place to stash clipboards, etc.
As previous posters have indicated, buy a voltmeter. If you have any money left over, get a test light too. The test light is easier to use when looking for a ignition circuit. If you penetrate the firewall, use a grommet.
Doing two-way radios for 15 years, I would not advise going under...
Air Conditioning! (I live in Miami) I have the Optimas in mine, I'm not sure I really like them. If the battery ever dies, you'll have the devil of a time recharging them, as I am having now. You pretty much have to charge them at 50 amps for a half hour and then 10 amps for eight hours. On...
There's a neat and cheap little tool from Thexton that allows you to easily tighten the power steering belt with a 1/2 breaker bar or ratchet. Prying on the unit itself can easily lead to damage. You're looking for a Thexton 383 tool. It's a flat plate with a hook on one end and a 1/2 square...
I got a 6.2 balancer from Rock Auto. It was Dorman part and went on with no excitement. As it turned out my problem wasn't the balancer, it was a warped lower pulley.
I'm a lurker here and I get lots of good information here, so I wanted to give back. My M1009 ended up with a cracked coolant reservoir. I did some research on the subject and learned the following facts from various non-Steel Soldiers sites.
The M1009 uses a similar reservoir as the 1983-94...
Howdy WB0ATS here. I'm into VHF/UHF. I've got GE Deltas with S825 heads or, GE Orions slated to go into my M1009. These radios were used on EDACS systems, which are used on post at Ft. Benning. Green radios are cool, but in a CUCV I think an on-post type of radio would also be pretty...
The GV overdrive is $3095, which is expensive. I paid $1k for the 700r4 in the Corvette. Now that might be expensive for a 700r4, but I am confident of the quality of the build. The 700r4 is a four speed with a final drive ratio of 0.70:1, the TH400 has a final drive ratio of 1:1. From what...
