    M998 U-Joint cross overs

Just got a PM on this, Spicer 5-153x u-joint kit is what I recall working on the front drive shaft. The spicer 2-70-18x Bearing strap kit is what I wrote down as working as well. I had zero luck at Napa for finding a crossover when I did this.

Yes I fixed it, I'm pretty sure I got it from Kascar but I can't remember off the top of my head.

FYI. GovPlanet no longer allows partial payments on items $5k+

Don't bank on that always. I thought PayPal was always fair and sided most of the time with the buyer. Until I purchased to 5 ton tops from GL. I got them took the wrap off one and found that one of the tops was dented by a fork lift. Whomever did it wrapped shipping wrap around it to hide...

FYI. GovPlanet no longer allows partial payments on items $5k+

I saw your PM. The short answer, anybody can try to do anything they want. Businesses now a days like GP and most use fear to try and force you into their BS. You can write anything you want but what do the federal laws and laws of your state say. Just call your credit card company and...

    M998 U-Joint cross overs

2-70-18x Spicer Bearing Strap kit looks to be the correct one for from ujoint. The 5-153x just arrived and fits the yoke out of the transmission.

    M998 U-Joint cross overs

No it just broke. The U joint broke and an ear off the shaft broke and then 2 of the bolts in the retaining strap broke. But I can't tell which was the cause because towing it out caused some of it. If I had to guess, the u joint broke and then ear on the shaft and retaining bolts on one side...

    M998 U-Joint cross overs

They didn't have the spicer for the staps and their cross match in store brand wasn't 100% exact. The bolts that came with it was a size or two bigger and wouldn't work. They actually did have the Spicer 5-213x in stock and again the cap span was too great. The part number you posted was the...

    M998 U-Joint cross overs

Update - Went to Napa and 5-213x doesn't work, it's too wide to fit into the yoke that goes into the front of the transfer case. We tried their napa crossover as well as a spicer 5-213. Tip to tip is too long but about 1/4" to 1/2". The guy there measured and found UJ430. However two of...

    M998 U-Joint cross overs

I had a drive shaft break and replacing parts. The cap on the front shaft that comes out of the front diff and is in the Center support bearing lost a cap, so I'm looking to replace it. Searing on ebay comes up with a 5-174x spicer. However, on my u-joint, one side has B7, the other side 151...

    M998 Transfer Case removal

Has anybody tried getting the transfer case out without dropping the fuel tank? I've got a hole in the transfer case in the truck, I've been debating whether to try and epoxy the hole or pull it out and swap it with another I just got. It looks like it would probably be tight but 50/50 as to...

    Police M998 Wait light issue

For what it's worth, I have one that is intermittent but always starts easily. After you've started if it's warm the light want stay on. Also, in addition to the clunk, watch the voltage gauge. On all of mine when the plugs kick in you see the drain on the batteries. When it's done, the...

Any idea of where to find the 2 hard lines coming out of the transfer case?

Based on numbers from Action, I found this 12338334 That looks like the line that comes from the Transfer case and threads into the transmission. Of course 12447075 looks somewhat similar as well.

Welding a small hole in a NP242 Transfer case

So basically welding or JB weld you have to do the same? I'm going to pull the drain plug and let it drain, I've got a small soldering torch I'll spot heat and go from there.

Any idea of where to find the 2 hard lines coming out of the transfer case?

No the are on the other end of the rubber hoses that are on the stubs coming out of the transfer case. Think they connect they go into some other rubber hoses on the other side of the transmission and connect to cooling lines as you suggest going to the front.

    Charging system

Man, I had an alternator that was similiar, it would start in yellow, go to green and then red and come back. At some point it would hit 32v's. When you hooked up the charger, was it a 24v or a 12 volt charger? If 12, did you disconnect the positive to negative cable? Check the batteries...

Any idea of where to find the 2 hard lines coming out of the transfer case?

As I posted in some other threads I had a drive shaft break. I finally got in on the lift today and it wrapped around 2 of the hard lines coming out of the transfer case and look like they go over the top of the transmission. I'm going to dig around on ebay and probably post in the parts...

Welding a small hole in a NP242 Transfer case

JB Weld it is then. I'll drill some holes in Aluminum and practice on that. Thanks for the input. I'm just happy it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Something broke in the dark, we pulled it out think it was a half shaft. Turned out to be the Front shaft. While pulling it up...
