What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yes my Fort Bliss truck has been great as well, I am glad I got such a well maintained and reliable truck for my first one. Its never let me down, and repairs have all been minor. I love finding out about these trucks as well, I give the soldiers tons of respect for what they did with these...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

My brother, who just recently retired from the military was nice enough to some research on the truck for me a while ago. Going by the unit numbers that were on the bumper when I got it apparently it belonged to the 11 brigade air defense artillery 2-43 out of Fort Bliss Texas. He believes the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Stored away nicely for the winter. I refuse to drive things I care about up here in the winter when they dump tons of salt on the roads to satisfy the people that don't know how to drive in slippery conditions.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I drive to my shop at least once a week in our 5 ton. Sometimes I will take pictures of customers restoration projects around it and include them in the booklet of snap shots we take all through the repair process for them

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Ya those are just standard issue sks 7.62 rifles, ammo is cheap and they are fun to shoot. Todds112 you do have to make sure you open the door a fair bit upon exiting, but I have never bumped into them yet. Takes away a bit of elbow room while driving, but very manageable. I take my truck to...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I purchased the rifle mount kit from c and c as well, very happy with it. Sks rifles fit in them nicely as well.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Typical case where one idiot ruins things for everybody else. Gotta wonder though who is dumber, the guy that sued the gravel company or the court system for allowing a lawsuit to go through.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I would assume that the heat from welding would further deteriorate the already questionable union between the rubber and metal on the dogbone. Has anyone tried drilling and tapping it and then bolting a piece of flatbar across there? Not sure if that would weaken it to much or not

    Considering 5 ton!!

We bought an m923 last year and have had no regrets at all with it, other than wishing we would have bought one years ago. If you plan on lots of cruising I would recommend getting another pair of front hubs and getting the splines machined out of them then just carry your splined ones in the...

    headed to Knob Creek KY

We are hoping to go to that sometime as well, it looks like a great time. Our gun laws are so idiotic up here that if a firearm even looks scary it gets restricted or classed as prohibited. Glad to see there is still a place to have great events like this. Driving to a machine gun shoot in a...

    5 ton lockout hubs

I agree. I gave up waiting and had the splines machined out of an extra set of hubs. I will keep the splined hubs in the truck just in case though.

    M923 front hubs

When I was researching this mod I looked up a couple threads that talked about the bronze bushings as well. My machinist came over to look at my truck after I unbolted one of the flanges and he thought that the movement of the shaft would be minimal since it wont be spinning anymore, only the...

    M923 front hubs

Just got a replacement set of drive flanges machined by a friend of mine at a local machine shop, I am planning on keeping the originals in the truck so I can just bolt them back on if I need the extra traction from the front differential. He took off as much material as he could to minimize...

    NHC 250 Commercial Applications

My neighbor works in construction and when I brought my 923 home he looked at the engine and told me that he has ran draglines and lots of other heavy equipment over the years with the cummins 855 in them in both turbo and non turbo configurations. He said they were always worked great over the...

    5 ton lockout hubs

I have a pair of extra drive flanges that I am going to get the splines machined out of and use those in my truck for now, but I would be interested in a pair of your lockers when they are finished so that I don't have to get out and bolt in my splined flanges after I am already stuck. Do you...

5 ton Parts Quick Reference Spreadsheet

I am looking for a part # for the Air Dryer spin on cartridge/filter only (have one for the kit), Preferably NAPA. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!

    M923 hard downshift

Thank you very much 74M35A2 I appreciate you taking the time to explain, and will check that on my truck

    M923 hard downshift

Thats a good point I didnt even consider that my modulator might be bad. I checked out the TM and I believe it said that when the accelerator is held to the floor that the shifter linkage should also be at the end of its travel, and I know mine still has room to move after wide open throttle so...
