    Problem with MEP004

Hey Sir, quick question. Finally got MEP004A #2 up & running, but it has a few problems. Many gauges are intermittent (which could be from the long time sitting), and NO warning/test lights at all. To start it I put the switch to "run", turn battle switch "on" (pumps then start running), push...

Easiest way to access underdash air lines in a M931A2?

The late 80's to mid 90's Mercedes Benz W124's & W140's suffered from that exact same malady. Magnificent unsurpassed cars once you sort it out w a non biodegradable harness. Utter crapboxes if you didnt. I know, we have 13 of them here..... :-)

Easiest way to access underdash air lines in a M931A2?

I dont like killing them, but here's what they do in your vehicle (and this is BEFORE they start chewing the wires).....

Easiest way to access underdash air lines in a M931A2?

Actually way worse than mice; a packrat. Those creatures can (have, and will) completely destroy vehicles in just a short time.....

Thx for the help guys. Was able to get in there and lo & behold........ :-)

Easiest way to access underdash air lines in a M931A2?

Thank you much Sir. It actually seems like its the battery disconnect & off/on/start switches on the left side that are hanging up that center piece. Side w the air cables is coming out a lot further. Obvious a packrat was back there, must have chewed a hole in a hose. BTW its definitely...

Easiest way to access underdash air lines in a M931A2?

I just cleaned my PPV, as air pressure gauges were pegging at 150PSI, no air to wipers, horn, 4WD, etc. Now that I cleaned and lubed the PPV, the truck wont build air past 40 PSI. When I shut it off, I can hear a big leak under the dash by the middle section w the on/off & start switch for 10...

    Problem with MEP004

Hi Sir, sorry to bother you but need a bit more help. My original MEP004A runs like clock (thx), but I just picked up two more I need some advice with. They are the Hollingsworth models fully rehabbed in 2009. Both were missing pumps etc, but I got a new set from Oshkosh with the purchase...

    Problem with MEP004

As usual you were correct Sir; horizontal studs (bad memory). They are not snapped off, but this will help me find the correct studs. Thx so much Sir!!

    Problem with MEP004

Hey Sir, I have another question. My friend bought two later Hollingsworth MEP004's to get running, and they are missing the injection pump mounting studs. We tried a bunch of different thread bolts, but cant seem to find the right ones. Any ideas? My machine has horizontal studs, his newer...

    Problem with MEP004

Thx, would be nicer if they had actual pictures instead of just flow charts. Is it just me that has difficulty with reading the manuals (hahaha)....

    Problem with MEP004

Thx Sir, I ran it in that position today. Seems to work great now...... :-) If you decided to use an aux tank (ie 55 gallon drum etc), where would you hook it to?

    Problem with MEP004

You called it Sir, data plate is painted over. I tried using goof off, but that just left a clean & shiny plate (haha). The handle is pointing straight up right now. I'll try the middle position tomorrow and see if it runs longer.

    Problem with MEP004

OK Sir, I have a quick and dumb question; genset starts &runs well for 20 minutes, then runs out of fuel and shuts down. In what position is that fuel selector valve supposed to be in (cant find it in any of my 3 manuals): up, middle, or down?

    Problem with MEP004

OK, so quick update. I bought the Oshkosh seal tool that squishes the umbrella seals as you install the pump. Worked like a charm, and I'm no longer filling up the crankcase with diesel. Runs & charges great, next on to the constant cranking of the starter. Will pull SP/relay box; hopefully...

    Problem with MEP004

OK, got this beastie starting & running/charging great, although still not sure if pump seal is leaking. I ordered s special tool from Oshkosh for the pump seals, will fix that if its still leaking diesel into crank. Now I just have to chase why the starter is constantly engaged, but great to...

    Problem with MEP004

That's a really great synopsis, and very helpful Sir. We ended up picking up both of those MEP004's. I was able to get one to fire almost immediately on ether for a few seconds (after adding new oil). The other one seemed to turnover very slow, and wouldn't pop at all. The battery cables...

    Problem with MEP004

OK, I think I might be OK. Ran it 30 minutes with new oil, and stayed pretty clean. I'll run it some more tomm. Here's a weird question: I just ran into a pair of MEP004's nearby, one with 1000 hours and one w 6000 hours. Both are missing pumps, but look to be in really nice condition...

    Problem with MEP004

Yes Sir, just put on two brand new seals. Its possible I screwed up the ip install, as it was a VERY tight fit. I guess I'll start by changing the oil as suggested and see what happens.

    Problem with MEP004

OK two questions Sir; I redid the ip and injectors because the crankcase was filling up w diesel. Is there any other way diesel can get in there? I didn't have the correct fuel strainers, so I just ran a direct line/filter to the ip. Does it need an inline petcock (ie can diesel gravity feed...
