    PMCS Check Question: Fuel Filter

My truck only had the small driver's side filter. Per the TM, and I've done this to my M923A2, you should replace the fuel filter and prime by loosening the 10mm bleed bolt on the far side of the IP (injector pump). Then press the button on the lift pump until a trickle of fuel leaks out...

M923A2 - Loss of Power While Driving

Excellent tips Dan! Addressing this step by step starting with a new pickup tube. Have to drop the tank to do it correctly, so I'm having it towed to a local shop Monday. On another note, I DID FIND a source for the brass elbow that connects the pickup tube to the steel fuel line. New one on...

M923A2 - Loss of Power While Driving

So before I go doing something irreversibly stupid... Let me check with the community. As sourcing the reverse-flare brass elbow is next to impossible I've come up with this idea. I've sourced a nice fitting combo for the fuel tube, but connecting it to the steel fuel line is not going to...

M923A2 - Loss of Power While Driving

That's what I'll have to do, but I need a new elbow. Anybody have a spare or a source for one? Aside from a custom solution (new brass fittings, hose barbs, and a section of fuel hose line) I'd like to keep it stock. I'll gladly pay!

M923A2 - Loss of Power While Driving

Well I didn't even get to pressurize the fuel system. i started at the tank and removed the fuel supply tube to check for a blockage and it came apart in two pieces. It appears to have been removed once before a long time ago. I'm going to assume I need a new one (tube and elbow) so any tips on...

M923A2 - Loss of Power While Driving

Going to take today and try and work through these issues! I've made a valve-fuel cap so I can pressurize the tank, I'll sure to to spend some time investigating the fuel tank and tubes, and I'll also inspect the turbo more closely. I'll (hopefully) have results to report back.

M923A2 - Loss of Power While Driving

Well today I replaced my fuel filer. Used a Baldwin 1226 and it replaced the FRAM P8043 just fine. Re-primed the motor (per WP 0239-2 steps 1-4) and it fired right up with out issue. Let it idle around 700RPM for 20 minutes while I check the transfer pump, fuel filter, injector, and injector...

M923A2 - Loss of Power While Driving

Going through my log book tomorrow to see when it was replaced. I've got TM 9-2320-272-23-1 downloaded and, as time permits in the coming weekends, I'll work through WP 0014-1. I don't have a lot of experience with these trucks, but I'm willing to learn from those that do! I'm most curious what...

M923A2 - Loss of Power While Driving

So I'm starting this thread to keep track of my findings and advice/solutions to the problem below: My 1990 BMY M923A2, about a month ago, started acting oddly when being driven up a steep hill. I would notice a slight drop in RPMs and a definite change in the exhaust note. It sounded more...

    M923A2 electrical problems

I want others chime in with a more experienced opinion, but my first thought goes right to the PCB (protective control box). Giving it a good whack or two when you don't get 24v on ignition usually gets things going again. This of course is a sign you'll need a new or rebuilt PCB. I recall a...

My First M923A2 Mod: Rear Flood Lights

Thank you! I try to keep it in top running condition. The previous owner did it justice so I plan to carry it forward. I'm actually taking it out tonight for a little exercise... a trip over to Bass Pro.

M923A2 Won't start... All the lights work though!

As an update I have 100% confirmed that my PCB is on the fritz. Every other time now requires a thorough thumping to get it to "click over" so the truck can be started. Once the weather warms up I'll get one ordered and replace it. Then I'll tackle the ABS fault. I've got to say though that...

New guy bought a m1009 (pic)

Welcome! Rusty Shackelford is a name I've seen before on the Maryland Shooters Forum. Any connection to that site?

    m923a2 new guy in virginia

Welcome from Maryland! What part of our State did you pick that M923A2 up from? Kind of funny... I went down to Manassas, VA to look over a truck before I settled on another up in Northern New Jersey.

CTIS that worked great, but now...

Go for it! I'm no expert, but I'll share what I know and I'm sure others will too.

CTIS that worked great, but now...

Best thing I can tell you is to test it out. The truck has to start and then the CTIS will start pumping as soon as the pressure builds. Try out the different modes by selecting the black buttons. If you see a 5-flash or a 4-flash there is a problem somewhere. Also walk around and listen for...

CTIS that worked great, but now...

Exactly what Rmtaunton said. As for myself and a few other members here the CTIS has proved itself reliable (and a great feature too). However, I think the majority of 939A2 owners will tell you that the CTIS is an over-complicated system with hard-to-find & expensive parts that eventually...

CTIS that worked great, but now...

Indeed it is! Other than that one hiccup the CTIS has worked perfectly since it came out of service some 3-or-so years ago.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Loaded up 14 of my best friends in the back of my M923A2 last night and made a short drive to Tide Point (Baltimore City, MD) for New Year's Eve fireworks!

    splice into electric system

Check out my thread here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?132758-My-First-M923A2-Mod-Rear-Flood-Lights For power I ran right off of the battery with an in-line fuse. You can pop in whatever amp fuse you like and its in a water tight rubber holder for good measure. I'd say running...
