Overload protection is built into the unit. If you overload the hardwired connections, it’ll drop the load and shut down. If you overload the convenience outlet, it’ll trip an internal breaker.
I’m glad to see a video on the entire procedure; it’s long over due. My set also had the mechanical governor tampered with. Kurt told me his two sample units were set to .793 and .765 for the top bolt protrusion and the side bolt was .0890 and .900. My set was at .936 for the top bolt and .928...
I figured it was that easy, but they talk up the magnet setting enough that I was questioning it's simplicity. Back when I bought the unit somebody had messed with the governor screws and with the new controller I couldn't find the sweet spot where the controller had enough strength to lift the...
The picture I posted shows the setup. You'll need the following:
3' 12-4 SOOW cable. Make the cable longer to put the outlet where needed.
(1) 3/4" strain relief sized for above cable
(1) double gang exterior box
(2) GFI outlets
(1) double gang exterior in use cover
(4) 1/4" x 1" bolts, lock...
No. Instead put some outlets on the load side. Here is a picture of my setup. One 220v 2p outlet and two 15a 1p duplex outlets. I typically use the 220v outlet with a 50’ 10g RV cord. Now you can pull a pair of 15a circuits off the one cord.
Dewie, I replaced my controller and now need to reset the magnet so the gap can be properly set. By chance, did you ever find the magnet adjustment procedure?
Out of curiosity I reached out to Kurt to learn more about his circuit boards. He responded quickly and volunteered to help diagnose the problem. His instructions went well beyond the TM and were so well detailed that I posted them below. I went through every step while the wife and I referred...
Well, I’m back up north at my cabin and sure enough I forgot my multimeter at Home. I installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge and it reads 15lbs. Anybody know what spec is? I then disconnected the one terminal off the oil pressure switch and now the light is off. I’ll need to check the switch...
Too obvious. I hit the button and it cleared the oil pressure light. I then shut the unit down and tried to restart it. No crank. I manually restarted and now the fault reset button doesn't clear the oil pressure light.
Was using my MEP-831a earlier today. Started and ran fine. Shut it down because the task was complete. When I went to start, it wouldn't crank. I only get a loud click from the throttle actuator. Acting like the batteries are dead, but I don't believe they are. The machine was only shut off for...
Need to replace the fuel gauge yet again on my 831. Instead if using another take-out gauge, I was thinking of going after market. I know the gauge is a 2”, but does anyone know what the ohm range is?
Pulled the filter and it was clogged so good call there. I was able to find as replacement filter on eBay. Generac Guardian 087769 appears to be a spot-on match.
