    king pin questions

I am not aware of who would carry it . Just to follow up on my problem , I took my lower sleeve plate and done as Gringeltaube stated and had the thickness reduced at a machine shop . I can't remeber the measurement now but it was bowl shaped on the bottom , if memory serves me right it was .012...

    Eliminated My Sprags

Yes , there will be some spinning even when going straight due to the gear ratio to the front but is should be a slow speed spin for any situation I should have it in so I think it should hold up alright . For the most part the front will be staying engaged .

    Eliminated My Sprags

Well some of you may remember me having issues with my sprag shifter and then my sprags themselves . Well I took them all apart again and decided to leave them out this time . First pic is the tools I used for the job . Second pic is half done and the third is ready to go . By grind the teeth...

    Front output help ??

I am somewhat embarrassed as my wife refuses to quit picking on me about my deuce being stuck in 4" of snow on basically a flat level so... does anyone happen to have some good sprags kicking around ? Could anyone give me some info on the "REB" kits that Memphis Equipment used to have or even...

    king pin questions

I didn't pull the axle yet (too close to my wall at the moment) , it has the fork and ball style joint which itself looks to be in good condition and the stub feels good in the spindle bushing , I am going to pull the axle out far enough to have a look where the seal rides tonight . I think it's...

    king pin questions

I can't find anything that tells me too much about the truck but the man I got it from told me it is a '63 Reo . I checked this with the wheel, hub and spindle all off , the .022" measurement may not be 100% accurate but it wouldn't be far off . Is there any other options I have at this point ...

    king pin questions

The lower plate looks very good , just a slight wear mark . only thing it is only for a portion of the diameter , like the pin isn't 100% square to the plate . Being the plate looks pretty good I think I will go with a thicker spacer , I don't know if I trust a machinist around here with my...

    king pin questions

So I got checking out the front end of my truck and noticed the driver's side wheel has movement up and down . I took everything apart to have a look at it and everything looks to be alright other than the steering knuckle being able to move vertically on the king pins . On the bottom there is...

    Hockey puck needed

Can anyone tell me how much clearance the steering knuckle should have on the king pins vertically ?, I bring the knuckle up tight on the bottom and the puck is recessed almost a 1/16" on the top . That side of my axle leaks pretty bad and I'm wondering if that 1/16" is enough to break the seal...

    4WD not engaging- Grinding gears

I'm not too sure about damaging the pump in the transmission if both tranny and transfer are in neutral and you shift to park , but as 1stDeuce said , with both in neutral your tranny output is spinning and when you shift to park it will start ratcheting the park lock and can come to a banging...

    U-joint # ?

Steep , more like vertical , right off the charts . I found another shop close to me with the same one by Spicer for $75 which I thought was a little more reasonable .

    U-joint # ?

Been trying to figure out the u-joint number for my forward rear shaft on my old reo deuce . I came up with a spicer # 5-115x from a local truck shop by the measurements I gave them , I am wondering if that is correct . He wants me to bring it in before he orders it because it is $250 . Someone...

    Horse power problems

Again I am not familiar with these multifuels , but running all kinds of different fuels , can the valves get bad for sticking ?

    Horse power problems

A poofing sound tells me there is at least one cylinder that isn't working as well as the rest , whether it be valves , injectors or compression . iI would agree on trying some diesel in there as well .

    horsepower problems

I'd say either low compression or bad injectors , most likely bad injector(s) . I would remove them and send them away to have checked/serviced . A poor spray will cause a hard start and take power out of your engine . You more than like have one worse than the rest too that would be giving you...

    sprag shifter specs ??

Can anyone tell me how much free travel the rod inside the sprag shifter should have before making contact to the spring , or should I just get a measurement on how far the linkage moves on the back of the transmission and go with that ?

    Shifter linkage ??

Well last night didn't go so good , I started cleaning the shifter linkage assembly (#3) and come to find out that it was bronzed all together in the end of the tube . Fired the torch up and melted the most of it away and managed to get it all apart . The rod is bent in all different directions...

    Shifter linkage ??

While we're at it here , can I get replacement sprags ? I took it apart because the forward sprag wasn't engaging , when I dropped the fluid it resembled tar more so than oil . So I dropped the transfer and took the sprag assembly off the front cleaned everything up and just put a little tranny...

    Shifter linkage ??

Thanks for the reply guys , I could only save the first pic off the thread you left the link to Recovry so it's the only one I can read . Gringeltaube , assy #3 , I had no idea had a spring mechanism inside of as I don't have a manual , and sorry for not digging through previous threads guys but...
