He's towing a 5500 LB tailor (unloaded). Says it'll do 70 mph without the trailor. So, at this point he's going to look in to having a turbo installed.
So, what's the best way to increase towing power on a '85 CUCV ? My buddy bought a camper, and his CUCV will only do about 50mph going up a hill while towing the thing.
My buddy has an '85 CUCV (6.2) and wants to tow a camper. Is there any way to get better towing power out of this thing? He is only able to maintain about 50mph going up a hill.
The new cable was the answer. The speedometer now works. Shifts to all 3 gears, but whines up quite a bit before it shifts to 2nd and 3rd. Going to service the tranny and check the vac. line at the vac. pump next.
The cable was broken at the transfer case. Just got the new one in. And the tranny was over 4qts low. Replaced the 1.5" of vac line at the modulator. From there its metal up to the engine. Don't see a vacuum pump. Only thing I see running off the 2 belts are the 2 alternators and the power...
The speedometer doesn't work and the tranny seems to only shift to 2nd gear. I'm thinking "Vehicle Speed Sensor". And if so, where is it? Any idea's guys?
He just bought it (on line auction). Did an oil change, air filter, and fuel filter. Bled the filter, re-attached the pink wire, but no start. That's when I checked the voltage at one of the glow plugs. (replaced the starter relay since I had read that they have a tendency to freeze up from...
My friends CUCV cranks great with new batteries, but won't fire at all. Voltage at glow plug was "O" with key on and "wait" light on. Anybody have any idea's on what could be the problem ?
