Volt Meter
Researched here and the web for an hour or three.
Found the coolest electronics store in Boulder, CO; JB Saunders.
Purchased a 300 0hm 5W resistor for 75 cents.
Installed resistor and the volt meter works! But, is pegged past redline.
Remove new resistor.
Play with Ohm meter and...
Thank you Dave,
Nice links that lead to more info. Still no consistency but 5.75 to 6.17 still seems to be the average backspacing for these Dodge wheels. I feel safer with around 5" backspacing so guess it is back to the drawing board. Thank you again, -John
Looking at some Treadwright 315/70/r17 tires before winter for the M1028, need wheels, and would prefer a classic non-wagon wheel look. I found these Dodge wheels on line but can only find contradictory backspacing / offset info. Has anyone tried these? They are 17 x 7 and could have a...
Hello all,
Had to rebuild the starter motor in my 84 M1028 and decided to tackle some leaks while under the truck. All is going well but I can not find a part number for the Oil Pan Seal anywhere!! This is not the rear main seal but the seal that sits in the rear bearing cap and seals to the...
Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions. I was confused and didn't know where to begin (kinda like every morning!).
I had just enough time today to look at the e-brake cables, remove the ALSD extension arm and snap some pics. Something may not be right with the driver's side cable. I'll...
Uh, wow, thanks.
To everyone else thank you for the help. I still don't understand how it could be a brake issue if the wheel will spin backwards. But I'll go bang on some stuff tomorrow and report back. I'll take some pics for Westech as well; not sure of what - maybe a picture of the hub...
Very cool how the searches I could have done before posting pop-up while I am posting! Seriously though...
I've just finished installing new 3" lift springs front and rear on the M1028! I backed the truck out of the work shop to sweep up 3 weeks of debris and all was fine until I tried to...
I decided to order up new rear and front 3" lift Alcan leaf springs. Didn't want to do it all at once but given all the pros / cons / different opinions it seem the simplest solution. With a bit of back and forth with Charles and Jason at Alcan about the brake load / GVW / ALSD requirements we...
Thanks to everyone, excellent information!
H in the VIN = 10,000 lb rating. General Springs lists a 1-ton 10 leaf spring with a 4650 spring capacity. Stupid question #1: Do I double this for the total rating? Is 9300 lbs enough? A fairly comprehensive (15 min) search finds these to be...
I have a broken rear leaf spring. My trusted local repair shop quoted $800 for a pair of new 1-ton springs!!! I went on-line and came across General Spring (generalspringkc.com) selling 1-ton / 56" / 10 leaf springs for $180-210 each. Does anyone know if this is a quality product (American...
