I have done it with the wheels in the air, and once with turn plates. Both did the job, YMMV (My turn plates are just 2 pieces of VCT tile with grease between them, they work surprisingly well!)

I have had success with cutting horse stall mat with a worm drive circular saw with a "wet wood blade". We also put some dish soap on the cut line to lube the blade. Found if you don't the blade sticks in the cut, gets hot and warps. Works well for cutting used conveyor belting too!

Alumimum cuts easier and cheaper than you think it would! I have been modding my 1152 top into a 1151. Its like 1/4 ish thick? Strait lines cut easily with a standard skill saw and an Irwin Metal cutting blade. The blade is about 50 bucks and I have made 8-10 feet of cut and it isnt dull yet...

Those shocks would be 100% tunable and rebuildable........if only the body disassembled!
