    keyed ignition wont' start HMMWV

One other thing, all my gauges are working, glow plug light, all work. Tried new batteries as well and it won't even crank with the original one that worked the whole time. And yes, I have disconnected the battery when changing ignition switches. Any suggestions?

    keyed ignition wont' start HMMWV

Same issue here. Freightliner, standard chinese one you find for $50 on all the humvee sites, and the original switch that worked, but now doesn't. The only thing I did was disconnect the battery, installed and followed the wiring diagram. I installed the Kascar wiring harness months ago, but I...

    Spring Replacements - Heavier Rate

The "why" answer is going to vary by every single sub-culture of Humvee owner. I have a machine with a new engine and an 86 front end. I'm replacing everything anyway. If there is a benefit of less sag since I'm replacing them anyway, "why" not?

    Spring Replacements - Heavier Rate

Good question, anyone have an answer? I thought I read that those 12K springs will actually give close to 2 inches of clearance (15 inches to 16.75 inches)? The post didn't make any mention of additional upgrading required.

A1 vs A2 A-Arm & how to tell the difference?

Thank you for explaining easily what to look for!

A1 vs A2 A-Arm & how to tell the difference?

That's good news. I read it in an article off of flashoffroad.com. I'm sourcing the parts as money allows (pitman/idler/Hub seals so far).

A1 vs A2 A-Arm & how to tell the difference?

Doing my research to replace the front end of my 86 (Maine Facility Refurbished in 07 w/6Kmiles) and the reading I have done about replacing the ball joints states that the A1 arms need to be drilled/modified to fit the new ball joints, since only A2 compatible are available. First off, is this...

    Rolling Coal

Like it or not, there are many different sub cultures evolving around our machines. From the people that contributed mechanical/functional advise, the answer is clear that it has the potential to really jack up your engine. I guess if you're smart enough to not be that big of an idiot kid, you...

    Rolling Coal

Can you elaborate on this and which is more advantages to achieving the rolling coal and/or harmful to your machine? Prior service here, and any smoke that we use (grenades, pots, artillery, mortars, etc.) are all harmful if inhaled in duration as a little cloud of burnt diesel. So we get it...

    Rolling Coal

Yes, I am doing this thread on purpose. What does that even mean? I started it by stating that I wasn't doing it for debate, just for understanding how it could be done and the drawbacks. I'm one of the few guys driving a diesel around my family and circle of friends, so I get asked this...

    Rolling Coal

Yes, it's a Hillrod move, not intending on debating that here. What would it take to make our machines do this? Turbo, electronic fuel pump? Drawbacks, obvious and not obvious? There is no law in my state against it, however my searches have found that it is against the Clean Air Act (CAA).

Identifying two things, aux cables, Small tube on wheel

I have them mounted on the back and front (which I added). Anyone that gets "Lean against a rock....or something" knows to improvise with what you have. Air lift bracket, hole thingy, self recovery doo-dad. It's all of those.

Helmet Top Fit Over C Pillar?

No, I have never tried to put one onto a machine with a C-Pillar in place, but every hardtop I've ever taken off does not have one. If you are wanting to do a cold/warm weather thing, just have two strong buddies come on over to yank the helmet. The C-pillar and support rails only take a few...

Question: Best batteries to buy for Humvee (yes I did a search before posting this)..

With the Optima, there was room to put in bookends of 7.62 cans to keep the fit tight. I painted the lids with bed liner. Perfect for tools, etc.

Question: Best batteries to buy for Humvee (yes I did a search before posting this)..

Optima Yellow and be done with it. I may be able to hook you up from a local shop.

    Humvee Hard Doors (MME Aluminum)

Chris out of Alpharetta, GA makes these for $2K a set. Comes with plexi glass because he doesn't want to deal with breakage during transport. As close to new aftermarket original as I've seen.

How I added reverse light switch for my HMMWV

I have mine with an on-demand switch. It's a habit now of throwing it on when I backup, but it's super handy when someone behind me forgets to turn off their brights or being parked while messing with something behind the vehicle in the dark.

    Driving Hmmwv in snow

Did a deployment in Kosovo (I'm sure my Korea Grunts can chime in here too about deep snow) where we had tracked snow cats way up in the mountains. The HMMWV eats up snow like it does any other terrain. The snow cats knocked down a path and the HMMWVs followed with no issues.

For those of you looking for a good battery charger at a good price for 24 volt syst.

Question on the Solargizer, when hooked up, should the red LED be on, or flicker? I'm just trying it out before I mount it. However, I only have brand new Optima batteries. Could that cause it not to register?
