    MEP-802A Starter problem?

That happens when you have a fault light as well. Make sure none of the little red lights come on while your cranking. (Ex. Low fuel)

    New to me - MEP-003A

I used one of the $20 shop-vac’s from Home Depot. It’s comes as a motor and hose, set the motor on a 5 gallon bucket. The bucket becomes the housing for the shop-vac. Swirled water in the tank from the garden hose (Had a lot of “moon dust” in the bottom of the tank) to keep the sand...

History repeating itself or why I bought my first generator

I’ve been using the poweroutage.us website since someone posted it on here. I think it updates every 10 minutes. I watched during Florence to keep track of where the worst part was. The news had concentrated its efforts in Wilmington, where the eye was predicted to make landfall. Watching...

History repeating itself or why I bought my first generator

We have over 10 inches in Vance county. Power has been off and on some. Not enough to worry with the generators. I just need the 2,000 watt invertor if it gets worse. I've got 802 and 803 if I need it. Added 100 gallon tank on front of the 803A.

    My MEP-803a experience

Lonesouth, I welded the two extra bungs in the top. Fuel pickup is in one corner and the fuel gauge as close to the middle as I could get. There is a baffle in the middle. Had to grind the powdercoat off for the welds. Flap disk worked best and don’t get it hot. The powdercoat will melt and...

    MEP-531a

This company makes covers for military equipment. They list the generators. http://transhield-usa.com/products/army-products/

    My MEP-803a experience

My understanding is the fuel pump itself shouldn't let the aux fuel system siphon. The check valve will make sure it doesn't siphon. I also installed a tee after the filter (with -5 cap) so I can pull fuel from the aux tank for another generator. The manual valve isolates the main generator...

    My MEP-803a experience

You are right. It's only 6" from the tank to the generator. However my sprained ankle has me a bit behind on my work. The generator will be turned around so the front is to the front of the trailer. I do believe operating the unit will be much easier as well. Fuel tank mounting bolts need paint...

    My MEP-803a experience

I must have ordered the same tank cause I got the same deal you did, plus a $50 voucher. Northern Tool is only 40 miles or so from the house. They stock them in the stores here but it was cheaper to buy online. One thing I noticed. Most or all of the instore tanks were pretty beat up. Bad dents...

My (new to me) MEP-803a won't crank from start switch.

I have a test I run for the fuel gauge. Prop my phone on the trailer with the camera showing the fuel gauge and record a video. Then reach my hand in the filler neck to move the float arm up and down. Once I get a “feel” for the action. I say empty, quarter, half, three-quarters,full as I swing...

    Oil Change on Reset motor

When I started testing one of my 803’s I noticed a similar condition. After flushing and refilling the coolant at a -25 ratio it ran cooler. The Govplanet yard for Letterkenny is just an old farm field. No infrastructure, so no water, sewer, or buildings. I’m thinking it was filled with straight...

    Mep.802a or Mep.803a?

I did something similar with my 802A and 803A. See if I can post a link to the thread it's in. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?172820-MEP-802A-fuel-usage-report

    M1101, M1102, LTT-TQG Trailer Jack

I found a jack built for Schutt Industries at SurplusCenter.com .Ordered one and other than the extension below the foot it's the same as the original. I cut the extension off and the flat foot allowed me to drill the holes and bolt the wheel from my old jack on. $28 is cheap for the jack, but...

    MEP-802A fuel usage report

Lots of people ask about fuel burn here. I originally found this site looking for the same info. Anyway, after acquiring both the MEP-802A and a MEP-803A, I performed the consumption test similar to the guy that post the YouTube video. He openly noted a cold running engine. I believe his had...

    My MEP-803a experience

I believe you would need to install a pump at the tank and push fuel that far. I'd be surprised if that small internal pump would draw from that far away. Pump control wires would need to be run between the generator and the pump at the tank. I understand your concern. Around here though...

802a or 803a fuel shut off solenoid

I believe that part is made by Woodward. I've seen Woodward solenoid from bobcats to aircraft. I'll look at my 803A when I get home and see if there is a Woodward part number on the sticker.

    MEP-802a fuel tank drain bung

Not telling you to get them from GMG. I believe they have reduced the price to half what I think they originally were. I was mainly trying to help the OP locate them as he had trouble.
