No. I would if I had a place to use it. Just a project to learn about these old 5 tons. And compete with the neighbor that just got this nice M817 to take to his off grid compound.
Its not as hard as it seems. I had to search around for the measurements to the cutouts and mounting holes for the condenser unit but it was pretty straightforward after that
The two man condenser is mounted on the passenger side but these dimensions worked for me.
Electrical diagram I used
You will have to modify the #2 wire that comes off the regulator to add in the tach harness. Its actually easy to do. There in instructions that come with a tach kit. I cant find my pics of it at the moment though
My M1123 had the red dot system laying in it when I got it.
Like you, I hated the thought of having that ugly contraption on my truck.
I did a full retrofit with the fender mount system.
You can find just about everything you need NOS.
I went with the two man setup as it is really enough to...
If you are not restoring the Fording equipment then the non fording valve it the one to use. Running and driving it wont cause harm unless you go offroad and get dust mud or water in the cut/disconnected vent lines.
Look up the diagrams of the vent system in the -24P parts manual It will show...
Tip it forward instead of to the side. You should get some more clearance to get at the blower assembly. Pull it out and go from there. Its basically the only moving part in there.
The sump doesnt get much stress other than expansion or sagging with fuel weight while slamming with the stiff suspension. Thats why I would use four big blobs of RTV to fix it in place like the isolator pads on a radio mount. The intake and return pipes keep it in place even when broken loose...
Are all the accessories original?
or did you have to replace something like a missing generator or A/C compressor?
Are you sure of your belt routing?
Make sure smooth pulleys are against the smooth side of the belt and grooved pulleys are against the grooved side. Ive seen them wrong this way...
Don't those 24 to 12 step down converters draw power all the time?
I installed a 200 amp keyed battery disconnect switch on my truck and the original DEKA automotive batteries from 2020 that were in it from gov planet are still going strong with no jump starting required.
For a better chance to get the correct one take a piece of string and run it along side of the belt around the pulleys. Measure the string for the close approximation. You can actually decipher/order belts as the civilian part numbers usually correspond to the number of ribs and overall length...
Describe your method of holding the fuel pump drive rod up during the lift pump install.
A buddy just replaced his bad lift pump and still no worky... made him remove the lift pump and lo and behold broken pump rod!
First...Make sure you have fuel in the tank. Like dump in five gallons sure.
Remove the fuel supply line to the lift pump and check that fuel can freely reach the pump. light suction on the line should draw fuel easily.
If still no fuel it could be a loose or cracked fuel supply line, a stuck...
First problem is that your upper stud brackets are upside down. The stud should be in the center of the air duct.
Then put the small green symmetrical feet in the middle and the black feet on the bottom.
Once you fix that upper stud problem the rest will line up right and be level .
Take a grinder to that outer clamp ring of the dead pump and separate the halves.
See why it failed.
I have had ones where the diaphragm has lost its rubber membrane leaving the reinforcing mesh, ones that just had the diaphragm split, and lately ones that had the lift rod pull through the...
