I will probably get a set of manuals for the D7. I have them for the D5b. I bet the A/C wasn't an option for the military version otherwise it would have been in the TM. Everything is there on the blower control panel except for the AC switch. The boss on the engine block is there to except the...
Thank you!
Thank you again. I think my CAT dealership is pretty good and I only have one experience with them. I think they're just not very thorough with completing the finer details of segment. When they rebuilt the track adjusters and blade group trunnions they should have finished the...
You got that right!!! It doesn't matter what it is.., it will give you purpose and enjoyment for the rest of your life. I can't sit around and watch TV sports like some distant friends always do.., but I will occasionally turn it on as background noise while I'm working on something. Very few...
My wife's son is a CAT mechanic. He don't no crap about the older machines. Caterpillar is a different company now. They consider anything over 20 years old to be obsolete. They want to sell new machines and forget about the old ones.
The old school mechanics are all gone now but I have one in...
I can't find any evidence that A/C was ever installed on the D7G. All of the air handler/blower infrastructure is there but no evaporator core or compressor mounting information in the TM. I certainly did not see any, and if it existed it would be in the TM. It's a custom job at this point. I...
I had a 1983 Suburban w/6.2 diesel (no turbo). It was great! I think it got 22 mpg on the highway, 17-18 in town. Originally, I think it had a 24 gallon steel tank? Wasn't it considered the first true GM diesel? Looked exactly the same as what I see in the pictures. Well, the tank got a pin hole...
Do you think 250 hrs is too long for a NHC 250? I was reading somewhere that anything with a turbo will do better shedding heat with frequent oil changes which I would concur with the 3k miles. I'm certainly no expert so I just listen and learn. 3000 / 55 = 54.545 hours. Let's say the average...
I have 3 trucks with Progressive through an independent agent. It certainly seems there are few choices? On average around $400 yr per truck for commercial liability. Tractor's are twice as high because they assume you will be pulling a trailer.
I go by the running hours usually. 250 oil change, 500 trans oil. I just flushed my differentials @500 hrs. The oil was pretty dirty. Oil gets expensive to change every 3 months. I'll just say I haven't had any problems with those intervals. I changed my transfer case @500 too.
So here are the things I have had to do so far. I have not run the dozer for more than an hour because it's not ready.
replaced tilt cylinder hydraulic lines and fittings
overhaul door seals which were non existent, doors rattled badly, had to be fixed in the open position
free main belt...
Last week when thought about removing the seat I looked behind it and saw the seat pocket was full of service folders. The all had a label with the serial number on them. The folder for this machine was there with about 6 others. The writing for the record entries on the face of the folders are...
Yes sir. It is very nice being out shaping the land and rewarding in many ways. As you know, a large part is equipment maintenance and learning your craft.
Well, I think my question has been answered my Sanden. Create a intermediate drive pulley to convert 1" to 3/8" belt drive. Maybe someone has that pulley combo made up for me. Still, your feedback would be great.
I need help with ideas how to add a compressor to this machine. The mount is not the problem, it's a belt and pulley issue. Someone said they had seen a D7G with a/c onboard. I can't find any information out there on this. It would be in the TM or some supplemental instance thereof. I'm sure...
