    Voltmeter click?

I have not done it yet, but hope to get to it this weekend like you. It's just a switch so polarity doesn't matter right?

    Voltmeter click?

I got these from eBay, but have not installed yet.

    Voltmeter click?

I think you nailed it with the temp sensor. Ordering a new one: General Motors 10045847 Wires were probably touching while breaking and turning because there was no clicking when stationary. Thanks for your help!

    Voltmeter click?

Thanks for the advice. The solenoid connections are tight and I replaced that in the fall with a new one. I'll look up again how to check if it's functioning properly. Is there a possibility that a failing alternator could cause the solenoid to freak out? Sounds like I should poke around...

    Voltmeter click?

Normally there's a click when the voltmeter gets up to proper voltage. I know it's not the voltmeter clicking, but I don't know what causes the click. I'm posting because today the click was stuttering and often. Every time breaking or turning. Seems like a loose wire or connection, but I...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I took my seats apart this summer to replace the foam and reupholster so I got to see how they are made. I think you are right about the frame bending and you may be able to bend it back. Civilian blazer seats look different, but could be swapped if you don't care about that. I believe the...

M1009 Intermittent wiper and horn failure

Could the fuse have poor contact with the fuse box? A frayed or crushed wire coming out of the steering column causing intermittent connection? You need new contacts inside the steering wheel column?

    M1009 Tailgate Handle Broke

Maybe too late, but, can you drill a hole in the regulator to access the bolt?

Intermittent wait light problem (stays on a long time and won't start)

Fantastic, thank you! The Napa ST-85 has the same specs as the one from Ebay so I thought it would be ok. I'll try to cancel that order and order this instead: Trombetta 974-1215-011-09 (There is also Trombetta 974-1215-010-09 which is the standard and does not have dust and liquid seal)

Intermittent wait light problem (stays on a long time and won't start)

I found a: ST85 Continuous Duty Solenoid Starter Switch FOR 12 Volt Systems 80 amp (Made in Mexico) on ebay for $20 with free shipping so I ordered that. Is there a way to test it with a multimeter before installing it to be sure its good and correct, or is that not needed?

Intermittent wait light problem (stays on a long time and won't start)

Just got back in town from a long weekend, so sorry for the slow reply. It would not start. The starter worked fine and the engine was cranking. Thanks for the part number and advice:-D!

Intermittent wait light problem (stays on a long time and won't start)

You nailed it! The relay did not light the test light from the bottom stud. Thanks for the advise :-D. Is that a part that can be removed and cleaned, or should it just be replaced? I see your point regarding the modifications. I bought this truck to learn basic auto mechanics, and I'm...

Intermittent wait light problem (stays on a long time and won't start)

Most times the wait light and glow plugs work flawlessly. A couple of times this week the wait light stayed on over a minute and when I turned the key the engine did not start. I tried a again and it took about a minute for the light to go off and the engine still would not turn over. Third...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I installed new seat foams and upholstery on the front seats. It was not as hard as I was expecting it to be. The wost part was finding the correct parts to order, and building the confidence to tear the old ones apart. There is a lot more support now, and I sit a couple inches higher. No...

    M1009 rear axle seal replacement

You make a good point. I mainly drive locally, but I'll replace the shoes before any highway trips.

    M1009 rear axle seal replacement

I think it was just a loose break line fitting, but I'll keep an eye on it to see if the leak returns. The shoes were soaked, and I just cleaned them with break clean even though I know that's not textbook. I didn't drive since I noticed the problem, so it's not baked in. Breaking seemed fine...
