Turn signals and brake lights quit working today

After some trouble shooting, I got the turn signals and brake light working. No reverse lights yet . The flasher relay and brake light switch were bad. I replaced them and I am back in business. I believe the neutral safety switch could be causing problems with back up lights. I had multiple...

Turn signals and brake lights quit working today

On my way home from work I noticed my turn signals weren't working. I drove the 1008 this morning and they were working. The headlights work. Hazard flashers work. Horn works. I get home and checked fuse 6 for stop lights and it was good. Was going to check fuse 14 but my voltmeter battery...

    Light for floor shift bezel

I will get a pic. The k5 is at my dad's house. If I get out there this weekend I can take a picture.

    Light for floor shift bezel

I've been debating taking my bulb socket off my k5 and putting it in the 1008. I already switch the indicator down there out. The 1008 had a broken plastic piece that had not been greased since 86. The black housing is same between both trucks, just without the socket and wiring in the 1008. I...

CUCV Snow Plow Trucks and Spreaders

    1. Clean or replace blower motor switch in dash. Mine was really dirty and it made my blower shut off and kick on gen 1 light. As i recall, the blower motor is on the gen 1 circuit, for some odd reason. Might help or not 2. Where did you get the nice voltmeter you installed? I replaced the...

    Is m1010 worth my time?

I have decided to let this one go. I called Thursday about it. The title is not able to be found. Apparently, the transmission has gone out as well. The m1010 is essentially a parts truck. I don't need it and I don't want a truck I could never license. It would be good to part out on auction...

    Is m1010 worth my time?

I decided on a low bid because I have a young son and other financial goals besides another military money pit. I don't need it but would like to have it. Based on it's location and the way it is posted I doubt most people would know what it is. If I can get it cheap great!

    Is m1010 worth my time?

I just wanted to see what others who have experience with this truck thought. I have a 1008 that i have almost finished restoring, so I am somewhat familiar with the beasts. I will bid a random amount not even dollar. I have dealt with biddings before. I did keep the post somewhat vague to keep...

    Is m1010 worth my time?

I recently saw a m1010 listed for sale. I knew it was a cucv immediately. According to the listing it ran a month ago. A small town is selling it. Unfortunately, no title. It is 1.5 hrs from me so besides the few pictures I don't know much about it. It is painted white and has city police decals...

    Driver alternator belt tightening question

The belt has either stretched from rubbing and heat while it was squeeling or it is too long.Get another belt gates or dayco from the local auto parts that fits a 6.2 for your year. Or have them cross reference the old belt . Install and tighten until strumming the belt give a higher tone. You...

Cool tool for installing tight belts

My father, who has been a mechanic for over 40 years showed me how to tighten the belt with a big flathead screwdriver. One that is 16-18" long with a thick diameter. Most alternators have a spot were a screw driver or crowbar can be inserted and pushed in the direction of tightening the belt...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Finally got all 50 holes filled in bed, primered and painted. Bumpers are painted now too. Unfortunately, I ran out of flat black in middle of painting and switched to a new can. The new can had same batch code as the old can of flat black. After painting both bumpers I realize the flat black...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Don't forget glow plugs relay. Mine was sticking on and killing g batteries.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Sanded and primed my front and rear bumper and top of bed sides. US Forest service mounted a spray rig in my truck and apparently had a contest as to how many holes they could drill into the bed. My count is around 50. I have been filling these and doing body work on them for two weeks. Bed...

    Front axle spring bushings

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Nice weather here in SE MO. I plan on doing more body work on my bed. Been filling holes drilled by US Forest service for 3 days. There were about 50 holes on bed from those idiots and whatever they mounted in bed. Also plan on getting a final coat of high build primer on my front bumper and...

    M1009 - Fuel delivery problem?

I have a k5 with a 305 in it and it is a turd. The cucv has more torque for sure. Back to original question of thread did the owner ever figure out the problem? If fuel filter was changed, then most likely IP needs work like cucvrus mentioned initially. What about air cleaner? Is it fresh?

    M1009 - Fuel delivery problem?

http://www.dieselhub.com/idi/6.2-gm.html See compression and hp sections in middle of article. The j code code motor had the code of LL4. Interestingly, it seems the compression was raised during production years but still lower than the c code. I learn something everyday! My m1008 is a 86, so...

What paint do you put on the frame? A gloss black or some special coating? Looks good.

    M1009 - Fuel delivery problem?

I read on the stupid internet that the compression was higher. Who knows? The j code apparently had different heads than the c code. If the motor puts out around 165 hp like I stated before, or 155 hp, it is still 25 -35 more hp than a c code. Now whether the increase was due to more fuel at IP...
