    I used 1.75" and it worked great. I dont remember the gasket material I used but it was the blue rubber cellulose I believe. It worked great as well. Went ahead and changed the thermostat and seal as well.

    Well, got all the hoses changed except the lower radiator. Ended up breaking a bolt in the water manifold, but it was no big deal getting it out... I feel a lot better about driving it long distances, and no more leaks!

    Bob, thanks, I'll check that. Also an update: I pulled the sender out, and the gauge and decided to install a complete aftermarket mechanical setup. Got in plumbed and installed. Found that at cold idle I have 60psi, which I consider fine. Will keep an eye on it and see what happens...

    About 4.5 gallons +/- 2qts when i drained it. it was about at the same level it is now on the stick. I've checked the coolant and there is no oil in it.

    Right now it has 22 qts in it. sat overnight and is about 1/4" above the very bottom tip of the dipstick.

    Ok, measured the dipstick, from the threaded collar to the end is 27" on mine. Any other ideas?
