    MEP 803 Voltage Regulator

Thanks, I’ll try to find that old thread. The new voltage regulator is the exact right part and I probably will send it back. It is new and looks perfect but right after I installed it I was only getting 30 volts out of the terminal lugs so it just didn’t seem to do its job. If I was better with...

    MEP-802 fuel pump failure

I haven’t heard of this happening. The part that starts and stops the aux fuel pump is known to fail but the fuel pumps seem to be pretty reliable.

    MEP 803 Voltage Regulator

Just got a new voltage regulator that seems defective. My old one still works but will spike the voltage after operating fine for a while. I asked this question before and didn’t get any responses so I figure I’ll give it one last go. Is there any alternative to the stock voltage regulator? My...

I’m in Goose Creek, SC. Hopefully I won’t need mine but it’s not looking good.

    MEP 803a Voltage Regulator Alternative

I need to replace the voltage regulator in my 803a. This seems to be a weak link for the generator. Mine has the mod but the VR seems to be poor quality. Is there an aftermarket VR that would work for the machine that is more robust and or cheaper? I just don’t want to spend 300 bucks on a...

    MEP-802A intermittently overvoltage faulting stall

It will trip within 5 minutes of starting on overvoltage and that light will be lit. I can also see the corresponding voltage spike on the meter so I know the trip is legitimate. When in battleshort I monitor the voltage very closely and I have not seen the spike. The results are the same...

    MEP-802A intermittently overvoltage faulting stall

Thanks for letting me know hopefully I don’t need to do the same and it is a less expensive problem.

    MEP-802A intermittently overvoltage faulting stall

No lights come on and the voltage is stable when in battle short. When not in battleshort I can watch the voltage peg the meter and then it stalls out. I thought it might be the voltage regulator but it doesn’t make sense that battleshort would fix that.

    MEP-802A intermittently overvoltage faulting stall

Did you ever find the problem? My 803 with the quad mod will run for a couple minutes then voltage will spike and peg the meter and the unit will shut down. If run in battle short voltage stays constant and everything runs fine. I don’t like being in battleshort even though I have verified...

    MEP-803a Overvoltage Problem

Did you ever figure out the problem?

    Inf about Percent Rated Current

It is a current meter. For the MEP 803A in 120/240v mode it will read 100% at 52 amps (12.5 KW at 240v). There are a lot of digital meters that will work with the unit.

    803A high price

Everyone started to see how good they really are and now everyone wants them, thus bringing up the price. I had to look for almost a year before I found a good deal on one and it was with the help of someone on this site. That being said, prices may go down a bit when the military starts...

    HD 765 U 120 or 208 Volt Space Heater

That heater will make an excellent load bank for your generator.

MEP 803a no power to terminal lugs

I found the problem! This little guy broke off from opening and closing the panel. Hooked it back up and everything back to normal. Thanks for the help. Sorry for wasting your time. I should have looked into it more before i made a post. I'm not exactly sure what this wire does but i assume it...

MEP 803a no power to terminal lugs

I’ll add some more info. Battleshort does not make any difference. Also the unit has been run recently with no problems at all. It has been functioning perfectly until this very moment. None of the trips were in and I pressed the reset just to be sure. Everything seems to be normal except the...

MEP 803a no power to terminal lugs

I went to start my trusty MEP and for some reason it will not send power to the terminal lugs. It is sending 120v to the convenience receptacles and the machine says the generator is outputting 240V. Voltage responds to manual control but when I close the main circuit breaker I don’t think...

WTK: MEP803A Tries to crank, won't start

When you take the master switch to the prime/run position can you hear the fuel pump running?

I wrote a step by step procedure for my wife. I probably need to run through it again with her soon just to be sure.

    Aux tanks under 50 gallons

I agree with the HHO tank idea. They are super cheap (used) and they hold a lot of fuel. If you get one from someone who is upgrading from HHO and doesn’t need the tank you can pressure wash and paint it and have a great tank. That was my plan until a smaller tank basically fell into my lap. The...

    Generator AUX fuel connections

I found the perfect part to make your own aux hose with, it is 5/16 female JIC to hose barb. It screws directly on to the generator and connects to a 5/16 fuel line. This makes normal fuel line pretty much plug and play to any aux fuel tank and is for sale at discounthydrolichose.com 143-0508K...
