    The mythical CUCV 4L80E swap

That's R&R; I'm bringing the truck in on a trailer.

Will do. Maybe an old address? didn't get a failure in my email

    The mythical CUCV 4L80E swap

Thanks! Appreciate the recommendation. Rebuilding the T-400 is certainly simpler. Shop says "worst case $2800" but that's over the phone without seeing it.

    The mythical CUCV 4L80E swap

Soooooooooo...got my M1009 stuck (rookie mistake in NASTY mud) and blew the T-400 trying to get it out. I've got a good shop and am just running through this thread to see if I want to try a swap or just have them rebuild the T-400. I don't drive the beast on long trips; it's more local dirt...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

Been looking for the whip antenna mount. Any ideas? Mine is missing and I don't like holes in my truck. Getting the vehicle registered in the new home station. Hoping the DMV people are understanding. Then getting the new tires mounted and balanced. Thanks for your help on selecting...

Your work speaks for itself; I'm envious. Gonna hit the tire guy tomorrow, thanks once more for the cue.

Not so much "approval", more like concurrence for expenditures of "common" funds. Simple courtesy. I won't go into the many things purchased without discussion . Typically purchases in the four- and five-figure range and up ARE discussed and I'm fine with that.

Guess I'm mistaking the rusted-through quarterpanels and the rockers under the doors. I will defer to you. Other than shifting roughly it drives well and is otherwise mechanically sound. Still has the rifle rack but not the radio shelves.

since the Line-X is only on the exterior, I can see most of the rust from the inside of the panels.

Yeah I was wondering about painting over the Line-X. Got the truck for a steal to use as a snowplow (hence Bride's approval) so I'll likely replace the panels that have rusted through and Line-X over them. Won't ever be a three-color truck though; it'll be Naval Beach Group green all over...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

My 84 1009 was Line-X'd on the exterior by a previous owner. A bit at a loss as to whether or not to try to paint it after that. BRide is NOT in favor of "investment" but I'm pretty sure I can do the necessary cancer surgery (rusted through in the "usual places") and then I'll have to do...

Thanks!!! I'll change the order with my tire guy. I think he was talking Hankooks or something.

Did you run the Goodyears and did you like them? I've got to buy a new set for my M1009 as the current tires are cracked between the treads. I want to stay stock size. I've got a great tire store that I trust and they'll get me what I want within reason. Thoughts?

    M1009 snorkel

like you I replaced the rotted-out originals with magna flow (only compatible I could find) and the truck sounds much better -if a little "un-CUCV" like

M1009 How To Roll Down the Rear Window??

Great thread for an all too common problem with some great tips I hadn't seen before. Moly grease it is! My vehicle is in "layup" on our other property; I only get to it a couple-three times a year. Looking forward to some quality time later this summer

Poll - Who has done the Doghead Relay Conversion

Older son (from whom I got the beast) actually did it but neglected to reinstall the setup under the dash. I managed to bump it and had it ground out against the dash, which smoked the starter! Redid the conversion and attached the damn thing to the dash and then got the starter rebuilt.

I want a flat black painted CUCV (like the two that I saw on the way home from work)!

Mine is done inline-x I believe; pluses are a good durable "finish" minuses are a) I'd prefer it green like the one I drove in the service and b) that sucker is hard to find in the dark!
