    Charlotte NC Event

What do you have? I've got an M1008, and maintain an M37 and Willys MB for a local organization.

    Charlotte NC Event

Our situation is as follows. We use the local municipal airport for the airshow, its a large event but highly regulated. We do have some MV's and small WW1 encampment setup each year but the local government isn't interested in promoting it and there isn't much we can do about that. We can't...

    Charlotte NC Event

I would like to host an MV event and give re-enactors a place to do their thing in the Charlotte area but I need to gauge interest. I have access to a small airport about 30 minutes outside of downtown Charlotte that's agreed to close operations for a couple days to allow for an MV event in 2023...

    Empty Weights

Thanks for the confirmation. Now I want to get mine on scales.

    Empty Weights

Has anyone weighed their M1008 in an empty configuration? I’m having a hard time buying the 5,900lb curb weight in the TM. Mines too modified to get an accurate OEM weight at this point. Also, does anyone know if they weighed them with or without fluids?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

SaltyDog, do you have a thread showing what you've got going on with your batteries? Looks like everything has been relocated to the rear?

    Replacement Alternators

I remember reading that and completely forgot. Looks like I can have it by January 11th, $316.38 shipped to NC, not available for shipping to store.

    Replacement Alternators

I have not, thanks for the link.

    Replacement Alternators

I’ve checked all the usual places, can’t find rebuild kits in stock. I plan to get a few good cores and rebuild them for spares if I can find the rebuild kits.

    Replacement Alternators

Third post this week.... I'm on a streak and I promise I'll stop after this one. Who makes a reputable replacement alternator? Can't find rebuild kits at the moment. I'm on my 2nd alternator attempt this week, both alternators were "CUCV M1008 Replacements".. Neither fit, the first was missing...

    Glow Plug Resistors

Thanks. Good info. I will pull the resistors. Its a nice bracket and I can certainly use it to mount other things.

    Engine roughness when stopped

Thanks for the input. I was just searching around an an NV4500 came up locally. 2WD unit, unknown condition, but its the 93 GM with the tall first gear. The case is completely covered in dirt/rust..... Asking price..... $1,500 firm. I'm sure that will sell just as quickly as the $35,000 square...

    Glow Plug Resistors

Unfortunately I purchased a set of Wellman's (DieselRX) BEFORE I read through all the info on this site. Now I know the 60G's seem to be the preferred go-to. I might just order the 60G's and keep the Wellman's as spares. I'll probably keep the resistors disabled as the truck starts perfect now...

    Glow Plug Resistors

Thats what I thought. Just wanted to verify that I wasn’t overlooking something. I’ll pull the resistors out.

    Glow Plug Resistors

Alright, I know a lot has been said on the subject and I’ve read the forums, but I gotta know, if these have been bypassed is there any point in taking them back to OE? For the record, my truck starts instantly, all the time, so I don’t need to do anything. Just curious about folks opinions...

    Engine roughness when stopped

The 4L80E is one tough transmission. Maybe I should leave it alone. And just for the sake of information gathering, since adjusting the TCC lock-up speed up 1mph I have not been able to replicate the issue. I’ve driven several hours both city and some quiet back-country highway. Everything is...

    Engine roughness when stopped

I’m enjoying the 4L80E with 37’s. 55-70mph is comfortable all day. The more I think about it, and the more I zero in on what I want this truck to be, the more I want to swap in an early NV4500. I used to be all about modernizing but now I just hate computer controlled stuff. I’m contemplating...

    Engine roughness when stopped

Yes but not all the time. If it does it again I will hit the parking brake and take my foot off the pedal to check. Here's my brake booster situation: The hydraboost is a new rebuilt unit. I went through several before I got a good one. I disassembled it and sent it out to have it ported and...

    Engine roughness when stopped

Thanks, that's about what I'm seeing but mine does tend to creep upward until lockup. I'll going play around with it today. Went to install a new #2 alternator this morning only to realize it was missing a post.... not sure how I didn't catch that before.. I'll do some testing later once its...

    Engine roughness when stopped

Any idea what temp your transmission normally runs? I set the TC to lock at 55 and there seems to be a more linear acceleration now; however, it did increase temps.
