Hes got a 1088 and when was the last time the filters were changed ? Weve all seen old equipment thats sat 20 yrs out in fields that the diesel didnt do that sounds like something was poured into your tank ! I put a half jug of HOWES twice a year in mine has done a good job !
Unless maybe its out of balance at the same speed/ mph Im playing with a rear shaft on a jeep i jacked up so angles changed but still get the vibration on take off in 1st so if you havnt messed with the height i bet its the flat spot after sitting

I guess it all depends on the sand we used to keep a 5 gal bucket in the neck of our low boy when loading rubber tired stuff when it was wet out and it worked great !
To not be locked into one or the other just keep a bucket of coarse sand with lid in the neck of your trailer so if its wet throw some sand on it and if you want it slick to pull something on or off its slick !
