    Deuce white smoke on startup...

that’s what’s a bit weird. My fuel system is spotless. Tank looks brand new. I think starter fluid was used too long because of the algae damaging a cup on the injector or more.

    Deuce white smoke on startup...

Flordianson, thanks for the reply. It was about a 10”splatter of a wet gooey algae mess on the floor. Pic attached. Truck starts up perfectly for hours after it warms up. I haven’t checked fuel pressure yet because I’m not sure how to fix it if it’s low or wrong. I did buy a sight glass to...

    Deuce white smoke on startup...

Wanted to update this for the future for people who search - Truck still isn't completely fixed - Found a black algae substance in the fuel filter housing. When the truck was running nothing was coming out of the fuel filter bleeder on bottom so I poked it and it shot a bunch of junk out. I...

    Deuce white smoke on startup...

After more diag I agree completely truck is loosing its prime. Check valve moves super free. Put 5 pounds of external air in tank and it open end shot fuel right out. pressure tested feed line and held pressure all night. when I hooked up external air the tank would always make a noise of...

    Deuce white smoke on startup...

Update - Found a check valve in my spare parts - didn't fix the problem. I see m35a3's don't have electric pumps and use a mechanical transfer pump... Does it use the air system that's plumbed into the tank as a "pump" ? Could an air leak in that line, therefore not pressurizing the tank, cause...

    Deuce white smoke on startup...

Going to look into a check valve - Absolutely no reason to believe engine damage has happened at this point. It runs too well with no smoke when warm. Anyone know about what electric pump to use? I see there is one available for a m35a3. I find it weird mine doesn't have one, but just a normal...

frank8003 and 98G, Really? Come on. Duh. That's why I'm here trying to figure out what's broken and to replace it.

    Deuce white smoke on startup...

Thanks for all the excellent replies - I went through all the suggestions step by step. To clarify the truck always starts, but its a pain to do without starter fluid. My lines fuel/return have no check balls in them or any associated fittings. Lines had residual fuel in them but didn't have...

    Deuce white smoke on startup...

Great question I should of been more clear. It gradually began firing harder over the years. I added a new fuel filter with no change in ease of startup.

    Deuce white smoke on startup...

Tried to search and the TM... no luck - A3 Cat 3116 motor. New fuel filter, at any temp the truck is equally hard to start. (0 -100 degrees ambient same issue) Need starter fluid to kick it off then blows white/black (95% white) and doesn't fire on all cylinders until its warm. It starts up 2-3...

    Charging issues with New alternator

Thanks for all the comments. I'm trying to Download the TM for the deuce but it keeps saying error. Until then, which one is the exciter wire? When I disconnect the positive terminal the truck shuts off right away. I purchased the truck without an alternator, and I think I may have had the...

    Charging issues with New alternator

Hi all! Have a 93 Deuce with a Cat3116 and recently installed a brand new 60 amp alternator. It was charging at 28V after installing it. Now after driving it about 150 miles I noticed the Volt gauge in the red. Checked charging and the alternator appears to be putting out 0 volts. Pulled the...
