What is the difference between the frames of the M998/M10XX/H1 Alpha

Also kinda confusing why the Alpha needed a completely new frame, since it does NOT feature a higher GVW

What is the difference between the frames of the M998/M10XX/H1 Alpha

Hello, recently i have seen a show here in Germany where they cut an old M998 in half to shorten the wheelbase and there it was said, that the frame was 3.5mm (0.13) thick. This seems kinda thin to be honest, since a F-250 has 4.5mm (0.17) and probably bigger rails. I was told once that the...

    M939 Series frame measurements

Well that's of course a huge benefit if you want maximum articulation, but on the offhand it's not the best way to go for drivin a bit faster, be it on or offroad, since th whole truck will bounce around like crazy.

Can these HMMVR frame measurements be correct?

@Coug Yeah that's what i'm thinking too, maybe at least for the more common M998 in the base model version someone could check? I heard the expanded capacity versions (GVW around 12.000) just got one extra layer in crucial parts, so i guess those do not vary much from the base model. @Mario...

Can these HMMVR frame measurements be correct?

Hello, someone told me these are pretty much the frame measurements of the basic HMMWV: 8"x2.5"x0.24" in the mid-section, completly boxed frame This seems quite massive for a boxed design that basically only supports a big car, especially since AM Generals REO got 9x3x0.315 for an open-c...

    M939 Series frame measurements

Yeah well that's one of the biggest Oilfield trucks there is, massive beast. The front axle rating is higher than the entire REO GVW ;) But i always prefer single piece frames, without doubling or stacking, its just a cleaner way of building things, which is why SISU is going this way...

    M939 Series frame measurements

Like this: https://bangshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/kw9.jpg or doubled in thickness?

    M939 Series frame measurements

Thank you very much! Interesting that it's not bigger tho, since 9x3x0.315 is pretty much the exact same measurement the new GM 4-6500 trucks are going to have, which are of course not nearly heavy duty in general. Even Am Generals own Humvee is not that far of, since i heard it has a...

    M939 Series frame measurements

Interesting, would have thought it to be higher. Of course the thickness is pretty important ... Also the steel quality. Oshkosh uses something with around 110.000psi, guess AM General went a bit lower then that back in the day.
