What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Haven't done it yet but my buddy and his father in law swear by it.

    Side marker light dilemma.

'83 M923 left rear side marker light isn't working. Old light looked corroded so I replaced it with a new light. Still nothing. Checked for power and I've got power to the socket but the bulb won't light. Received a "bag of bulbs" with the truck when I bought it and tried numerous bulbs of...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

This week I replaced the lenses for the side marker lights on my '83 M923. Two of the lights were corroded badly so I replaced with new lights from Big Mikes Motorpool. Left rear side marker wasn't working still but I discovered that I had power at the plug behind the taillight so figured that...

    What gauge wire?

M923, rear side marker light wouldn't come on. Short lead between side marker light and harness behind tailight is bad. I can buy 14 gauge and 16 gauge connectors. Not sure what gauge the wire is so that I get the correct connectors.

    Smoky

'83 M923, Cummins 250, is it normal that it smokes like Uncle Al on poker night or is it needing attention?

    Grease preference

I know I'll get a bunch of different answers but before I start squirting grease into the many grease points on my 923, which grease do you all think is the best stuff to use? I use the green waterproof stuff for my boat trailer wheel bearings but not sure if that would be sufficient for this...

    Tire pressure question

I just purchased my first this past week. An '83 M923 with 11.00x20 tires. What is a proper tire pressure to run in these? Max cold says 120, previous owner had 60 psi in the fronts. Thank you in advance.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Drove my "new" '83 923 to town 1 time and now my kids baseball team thinks I should haul them to all of their games in it. Also my old Legion Post convinced me to get back into the Legion and suggested we could put our post members in the back for the county fair parade and 4th of July parade...

    Just a bit excited

My wife and I have been contemplating buying a diesel pickup for pulling the camper plus hauling 5 kayaks, 5 bicycles plus guns and ammunition to attend zombie shoots. I saw a 923 for sale and mentioned to my wife that it would haul everything and then some and that I had wanted one ever since...

I was going by what the ad said. What is the difference between the two? He did say it was a rebuild. Not sure if that makes a difference.Learning as I go.

    Just a bit excited

Hello all! New to the site here. While in the Marines, I became infatuated with the 923's. I'll be 50 at the end of this month so as a 50th birthday present, my wife is going to let my buy one. I've got a guy bringing one to my house on Wednesday for a looksee. '83 M923A2 with the 14.0L...
