A3 Disc Brake Conversion - Brackets and Parts

Maybe if I ever get a third deuce I'd go crazy with this. The kits look slick!

Reproduction smoke grenade control box - Blank Version COMPLETE!

I just included the files here for the box and mounting plate: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/hdns-3d-stuff.224603/

    HDN's 3D Stuff

Considering I've made a few MV-related things, I figure that I should catalog them in my own thread for them. Not all of these may have prints of them existing, and they may not be perfect. Part of my interest in doing MV stuff in CAD is being able to make reproduction parts, or have the data...

    Print it Forward

I have some Autodesk Fusion tutorials that I made and posted on YouTube. They're linked in my forum signature. My channel also includes other stuff related to 3D printing.

    Differential pinion seal

Turns out I needed to look in a different parts manual, which I managed to find here. TM9-2320-361-20P has these parts listed: Part #7521241 SEAL,PLAIN ENCASED A quick Google search seems to indicate you can get these seals new and not just NOS.

    Differential pinion seal

I think I see the issue here. I can't find an exploded parts diagram and list for the differential gear box in my -20P.

    Differential pinion seal

Is "carrier" the right word here? I'm not super-familiar with differentials, but from the pictures I've seen of differentials on the internet, the carrier is completely inside the differential housing and should constantly be getting oil: @Lukas Avkovsky Is there another part you're...

M35a2s with Dual Circuit Brakes by Year?

If it were me, I'd get the 5-ton as long as I can drive it and get it titled, and depending on how far away it is. There's a lot more truck to the 5-ton. The one you're looking at has power steering and air brakes, plus it should have super singles. It has an automatic transmission too, but...

Checking Brakes and Steering on My 83 M35A2

How's the air system? Are there any audible leaks? Are the tanks still strong? Do the tank drains work? How is the overpressure safety valve? Is the air gauge and low pressure buzzer functional? EDIT: Added buzzer and gauge

M35a2s with Dual Circuit Brakes by Year?

There was a thread in the hotrodding board about adding aftermarket dual-circuit brakes to the truck. I don't think it ever reached a good solution. With how prevalent computer-aided manufacturing is along with robotic machining equipment and metal 3D printing, I feel like it's about time...

    Body shop paint job.

I haven't considered taking my truck anywhere to get painted. Any time my dad got his trucks painted he did it himself outside with a spray gun setup. I may do the same if I have the right environment on it, like no trees dropping junk on my new paint! I had a body shop quote me for painting...

    M35A3 value?

That truck looks pretty clean to me! Be sure to check the fenders for rust too. I see the rubber floor mats were removed at some point. They retain moisture, which is why the floor looks a bit rusty. I took most of them out of my truck when I had to pull the toeboard to replace the engine...

    M35A3 value?

I also want to see pics. You could get a nice driveable M939-series 5-ton or a decent HMMWV for that price. I feel like that M35A3 better be close to immaculate or come with plenty of extras for $14000. It might be the seller's let-go price too - they don't necessarily want to sell the truck...

STUPID Question; Engaging Front Wheel Drive

The manual for my truck says to engage front wheel drive before putting truck into gear. I imagine that may be the same for the M35A2 since they both use the same transfer case. It doesn't specifically say that in the manual, but it's implied when mentioned in the section about operating in...

    Accidentally bought a deuce

That's pretty dumb. I'm sorry to see you went through that. I guess West doesn't like having customers, hm?

    Wheel bearing getting hot

When you installed your bearing nuts and torqued them, did you rotate the hub in the same direction as the nuts go on? I remember missing that the first time I did bearings on my truck and went back and reinstalled the nuts on that wheel. It's at least in the M35A3 instructions anyway. I...

    Flasher Unit Bad ?

That's called "engineered obsolescence". Is it up to the vehicle manufacturer to source components, or is it usually the government who specifies it? Imagine the flasher guy getting their foot in the door and making bank all these years later on flashers with a useful life measured in less...

    Flasher Unit Bad ?

Napoleonic warfare in field trench coats? What are they doing- OHHHH MY! :ROFLMAO: @marchplumber thanks for the thread link. It makes me want to try to design a reproduction flasher case I can 3D print to fit modern off-the-shelf components, but looks close enough to the original.

    Accidentally bought a deuce

Sounds like you have a project ahead of you! I see good deals across the country when I look for MVs every so often. The thing that I find I really can't afford is shipping, even if I can get a deuce for a thousand bucks :p
