She’s alive!! I ordered new starter bolts last week and they finally came in today. I installed it with one shim and tried to crank it over only to be let down because it did the same thing. Awesome thanks so much for the help. I’ll pick up the shims and let you know when she’s rolling down the road again! Also one more question I had is where can I get new bolts for my starter. I used the old ones and after some reading I found out they’re a one time use kind of thing

    Runaway starter

Okay so I just removed the starter but left it hooked up. Had a buddy crank the key over to start and then let the key return to its resting position and boom no starter run on. This is telling me the whole electrical starting circuit is correct. Am I right in thinking this way? I’m thinking the...

    Runaway starter

Quick question while I’m trouble shooting. Is this dog head relay mod supposed to have 24v coming to it through the red wire?

Okay I’ll check when I get home from work. So should I remove the bell housing plate on the bottom to view the ring gear and flex plate together? I’m still confused as to what’s causing this thing to run on until I turn the key to the off position. It has me baffled

It seems to be very crisp, however I do not know what a bad one feels like. I’m wondering if the spacing on the fly wheel to the ring gear in the starter isn’t correct causing the starter to not disengage but I’m not sure if that’s even a possibility. When I try starting it and it continues to...

    Runaway starter

Okay so today after work I came home and did some more trouble shooting. First I took out my meter and set it to continuity and put one lead to the big lug on the starter solenoid and the other lead to the frame and it rang out showing there was continuity between the two and I’m guessing there...

After rereading your reply I think the solenoid on the starter is my problem. Can just that be replaced? If so would you happen to know the part number for it Or where I could find it?

    Runaway starter

Can this be intermittent? I took the power lead off the starter and the buss bar on the firewall and then attached a jumper cable to the starter and then to the buss bar. That went ok no sparks, no melting. I then tried starting it again and once again the starter ran away on me so I yanked the...
