Nick, if it is liner material, that would jibe with the fact that this motor may have been overheated when that oil cooler cover developed the leak, we always thought it might have damaged the motor due to overheating. But the darn thing ran so well. . . .

Got a call from Nick about 1.5 hours ago, the motor went south about 80 miles from home base, he is having the truck towed to a nearby yard, and is driving the 1008 the rest of the way. I think he will be driving his other Deuce tomorrow to recover.
