If there is air in the IP system then you won't get the spurt spurt spurt when turning over with the nut loose.
Is it starting at all?
Is the solenoid moving how and when it is supposed to?
It's pretty simple. It needs fuel and air to run. If you provide both and start it, it will continue to run until it breaks or until fuel or air is shut off.
If you have bad fuel or if any of the 3 pumps isn't working of if the tank float is down or bad of if the fuel solenoid is bad or off...
Get fuel to the red arrow. Then, loosen the fitting at the green arrow 1/2 turn and turn over, looking for spurt spurt sprut.
Here is another view of the green arrow, only orange this time:
Here is a side view showing fuel transfer pump and IP:
I'm going on memory here and I haven't had...
You have a 016B that won't run?
If so you need to check:
Air
Fuel
Compression
1. Make sure fuel is being delivered to the input side of the IP. There is a little hand lever for priming on the mechanical fuel transfer pump, IIRC.
2. Loosen the injector nut 1/2 turn and turn the motor...
OK, I thought you wanted a starter for a 026C. The 026B starters are the same as the 016B. You just want a 24V starter for a 016B.
16 = AC generator output.
26 = DC generator output.
A buddy of mine got a real sweet deal on a small cabin cruiser that the owner just had the motors rebuilt in. The owner could not get either motor to start. He got frustrated and gave the boat to my buddy for a song. My buddy studied the situation, asked a bunch of questions, and then...
Injector pump and fuel pump are plunger driven and would both squirt if engine was rotated backward, I think.
They might spin faster with the injector removed but with just the line cracked you shouldn't get enough bleed off to make much of a difference in compression and rotation.
Wish you...
Then you may have broken it. If nothing else there is a fan on that motor that will not cool properly if turning the wrong way. There really is no option for rotation here. The gen head doesn't care if it goes CW or CCW but the Diesel motor certainly does. I am pretty sure the oil pump will...
The transfer pump is on the side. It has the handle for priming. It send fuel to the IP which in turn sends fuel to the injector. The injector should be on top of the motor.
Most Diesels I've worked on have 17mm injector fitting nuts. Crack it about 3/4 turn. Turn the motor over. After a short period you should get a spurt, spurt, spurt.
Note:
Diesel injector pumps are HIGH pressure things. You don't want the line open and spraying into space. Just loosen the...
