    The difference for the 3rd digit is a B is for Chevrolet, incomplete (like an M1031), C is just chevrolet truck. (like an M1008) This info is found in Section OA-2, general information in any GM service Maunual.

    VIN differences between M1008 and M1028?

    I have a true M1028A1 with a "G" where the "H" is. The G makes mine a 1986, the H makes it a 1987, nothing to do with being an M1028 or M1008. The F after the H means it was made in Flint.
