This is probably the way to go. It would make the truck much more practical for highway driving. I'm betting the torque limit won't be an issue as long as you aren't drag racing with the thing. Looking forward to seeing the completed project.
I know the 5.9 has been done before. I just saw a bunch of 6.7s somewhere brand new in box that may go for really really cheap. Of course, once all is said and done, the money saved in the initial purchase of the engine will be more than offset by the conversion process.
That's probably the only way to do it. I'll see if I get the engine first and go from there. As long as I know it will physically fit and it is possible to adapt it to my standard gearbox then I'm good to go.
