Problem is not being active duty or reserve any more to get access to any local base. But looking for ideas. Was it a concession on-base? Or was it a little side-work with the motor pool guys? How did you all work it out?

Stationed in CA years ago and the base used to have automotive garage bays for rent (with all tools). You brought your car (or truck), paid up, and you had almost everything you needed to get anything automotive done. They also had a full-time mechanic on staff for support, and to bounce ideas...
